MEGALITHIC was expected to win on his racecourse debut at Salisbury when he was backed accordingly. Yet after a slow start over the minimum 5f trip, he was always under pressure and at no point was the jockey able to sit up and give him a breather. Up to 6f now will definitely suit and he should be able to be more in his comfort zone on his second try.
14:35 Fantastic Fox (each-way)
FANTASTIC FOX has been running really well of late and put up another good performance in the Victoria Cup at Ascot last time where he was hitting the line very strongly. Stepping up in distance to 1m 1/2f now will suit and the hustle and bustle of the race seems to suit his fast and late finishing running style.
15:10 Feed The Flame
The French raider, FEED THE FLAME, could be the way to go as he has a lot of tactical speed and put up a good performance over a quarter mile shorter last time. Emily Upjohn is going to be a red hot favourite but she’s not a million miles clear on official ratings in what could prove a tactical event.
15:45 Sweet Reward (each-way)
Although SWEET REWARD is not particularly well handicapped, he does have a very good profile around this tricky venue which will stand him in good stead. Silvestre De Sousa is a positive jockey booking and it’s his ability to be flexible as regards tactics that is another bonus in a big field where sometimes they can go far too quickly.
16:30 Ylang Ylang
YLANG YLANG put up a great performance in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket when she was never really travelling with any fluency. The step up in distance to 1m 4f looks absolutely tailor-made for her and she can rattle home fast and late to get Aidan O’Brien on the score sheet in the Classic division this season.
