13:30 Alibaba

Meng Tian is respected off only 2lb higher than for his win at Wolverhampton, while Tonal was runner-up at Chelmsford last time and is a big player if he can repeat that form back on turf. Ed Dunlop’s handicap newcomer Perovskia needs watching in the market, but the one who appeals most is ALIBABA, who returned from a short break with a close second over C&D last month and remains very well treated on his old form.

14:00 El Burhan

Although EL BURHAN wasn’t totally at ease on his Rowley Mile debut at Newmarket he nevertheless showed ability and there should be plenty more to come from him on this more conventional track over an extra furlong. Attack is a choice-looking newcomer for the Gosdens and it will be interesting to see the strength behind him in the betting. Bretton Wood can also figure now upped to 7f.

14:35 Rogue King

Improved for the step up to 1m4f when a close third behind Miss Gitana at Beverley (good to firm) this month in the first-time cheekpieces; ROGUE KING should give it a good go off 2lb higher.

15:10 Clockmaker

Theory Of Tides made a good start with his strong-finishing win at Nottingham and he’s respected under a penalty on this step up in trip. Liam Swagger has finished placed in his last two runs and doesn’t have much to find on the figures here, while Steel Tiger has claims if he can build on his promising second over C&D 23 days ago. However, the vote goes to CLOCKMAKER, who chased home a subsequent Group 3 winner on his Newbury debut last month and sets the standard on that form.

15:45 Hover On The Wind (NAP)

Top of the list is HOVER ON THE WIND (NAP), who hit a personal best with his dominant display over C&D 23 days ago and is not weighted out of this despite going back up 6lb. Last month’s course winner Rhythmic Acclaim is feared most, although Watermelon Sugar scored in good style on AW last time and looks interesting off the same mark on his switch back to turf.

16:20 Rascal Recknell

Plenty have possibilities but the vote goes to RASCAL RECKNELL, who went close in his first two starts before landing the odds with plenty in hand at Lingfield in February. This well-bred colt could have a bright future in handicaps and he gets the vote ahead of last month’s C&D winner Mister Mojito and recent Kempton runner-up War Bride. North View looks interesting on his step back up in trip, while others to consider are Jungle Mac and the twice-raced filly Aquacell.

16:50 Dion Baker

Most of these have plenty to prove but DION BAKER pulled 5l clear with the runner-up when scoring at Brighton last week and is a big player again if he can repeat that form under a penalty. Second choice is C&D winner Sir Oliver, who was a creditable third at Chelmsford last time and is on a lower mark on this return to turf. Others to consider are Beylerbeyi and the lightly raced Mystery Monarch.
