13:45 – Amaysmont
AMAYSMONT is in excellent order at present and followed up his win in a six-furlong handicap at Chelmsford with victory over seven furlongs back at the same venue on Thursday. That was an authoritative length-and-a-quarter success under this rider and he looks likely to launch a bold bid under a 4 lb penalty. Odd Socks Havana is also going through a good spell and was only narrowly denied the hat-trick at Newcastle last time so he appeals as the main danger.
14:15 – Jungle Land
JUNGLE LAND shaped with plenty of promise when runner-up on debut at Ayr earlier this month and, although he didn’t quite progress as much as expected, he also ran well when filling the same position at Newcastle last time. He just about has the best form on offer and he remains open to further improvement, so he appeals as the one to beat.
14:50 – Secret Guest
SECRET GUEST put in a rare disappointing display when only fifth at Newcastle on his penultimate start but he bounced back when third at Thirsk nine days ago, leaving the impression that he might have won had he not missed the break. Secret Guest ran on well to miss out by just a neck and a short-head and he remains a sprint handicapper to be interested in from what remains a fair mark.
15:25 – Fly Liberty Fly
The newcomers could be the ones to focus on here with FLY LIBERTY FLY getting the vote. Her dam won over five furlongs as a juvenile and was placed at listed level, so she could be sharp. Hickton, who is by Kodiac and out of a seven-furlong winner, is another who makes appeal on paper and could also go well.
16:00 – Lochaber
LOCHABER returned to form when fitted with cheekpieces and ridden from the front at Doncaster on his penultimate start, pulling clear with the winner and losing out by just half a length, and he didn’t need to improve on that form to land a seller at Beverley a couple of weeks ago. Lochaber, who again responded well to a positive ride, got off the mark in straightforward fashion and can strike again back in handicap company.
16:35 – Bystander
BYSTANDER showed ability on the all-weather over the winter, winning a couple of times in promising fashion, and he translated that progress back on turf at Newmarket a few weeks ago, shaping better than the result might suggest in fourth. Bystander was outpaced around two furlongs out but he kept on well inside the final furlong and was ultimately beaten only a length and three-quarters while leaving the impression that he’d benefit from stepping back up in trip to a mile and a quarter. He still has more to offer after only three starts in handicaps.
17:10 – Sameem
SAMEEM won over just shy of a mile-and-a-quarter on testing ground when last seen at Catterick in September and that proven stamina could come in handy here. He’s only 1 lb higher in the weights than for that ready success so he’s capable of giving a good account from this mark.
