18:07 – Surveyor (NAP)

Returned to grass for the first time this season, SURVEYOR (nap) looks particularly interesting. Her turf form stacks up well and suggests a mark of 81 is lenient. Zipster, who should have more to offer in handicaps, is second choice ahead of Blake who is heading in the right direction. Several others also have possibilities.

18:37 – Hawaiian

Newbury winner HAWAIIAN holds the strongest claims on form and he’s in the ideal hands going into this National Stakes attempt. Anticipated front-runner Reposado (second choice) could make a bold bid from the rail draw, while Sonic Blue is an interesting type. A few of the others are open to further progress.

19:07 – Chesspiece

Trueshan looks up against it again but the rematch between the Sagaro Stakes second Caius Chorister and third Sweet William clearly has a vital bearing on this race. It’s not an easy one to call, with Caius Chorister just preferred given that this is only her second appearance over 2m, but CHESSPIECE having his first run at the trip also makes appeal. The Crisford runner’s final run last year suggested that it will suit him and he should be far more potent today than he was on his reappearance. Prydwen has blazed his way through 2m handicaps this spring and will have a say if he can transfer that form from the AW.

19:37 – Royal Rhyme

The outcome of this year’s Brigadier Gerard largely depends on what the weather does. Some rain is forecast, so ROYAL RHYME is preferred assuming the ground turns in his favour. Isle of Jura is the best option if the going is good or firmer. Miss Cantik, who may well have her own way up front, is the tactical angle.

20:12 – Kikkuli

Ice Max has the best chance on ratings and is still on the up. However, there are plausible alternatives in a typically interesting Heron Stakes. Superbly bred KIKKULI brings lots of potential to this higher grade and he is first choice, ahead of fellow St James’s Palace entry Almaqam who looks another useful prospect. A few of the others bring Group form.

20:42 – Crack Shot

With further progress on the cards, CRACK SHOT is taken to follow up his Newmarket win and enhance his good record at this distance. Classic, who ties in with the selection on Newbury form last August, is second choice ahead of Dragon Icon who is interesting on only his second turf attempt. Regheeb may build on his Ripon effort and reverse placings with Hiromichi.
