Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

16:00 Yarmouth – Age of Gold (Spotlight)

AGE OF GOLD has particularly strong credentials coming into this race. A €625,000 yearling, son of Frankel and brother to Group-placed 6f winner Fivethousandtoone (including as a 2 year-old) and half-brother to three winners.  Charlie Appleby’s yard have been powerful here with their last three 2 year-old runners going on to win.

16:20 Ayr – Match Play (Racing Post)

MATCH PLAY is only 1lb higher than from his Haydock win last June (5f, good to firm; with a good track position) and although he’s not at that level this year, he has been contesting stronger races. He dropped away at Epsom last month but was far too free down the hill there and today’s more conventional track should suit

19:30 Kempton – Smouldering (The Times)

SMOULDERING offered hope of much better when second at Wolverhampton and she looks to have been found a good opportunity to go one better here. Whilst that outing wasn’t a particularly strong maiden run, she needed the experience, and looks more streetwise now.

20:00 Kempton – Akkadian Thunder (Sunday Mail)

AKKADIAN THUNDER (NAP) ran on well to win at Newcastle 19 days ago, though he was not really exposed in that one, on his stable/seasonal debut. This two time course winner could have more to give after just five starts. He goes up in the weights, with a 3lb increase, but that shouldn’t prevent another big run.
