14:30 – Smart Charger

SMART CHARGER showed modest form for Tony Carroll last year, but he was improved on his first outing for Alan King at Southwell last month, travelling well and leading briefly from under two furlongs out, but unable to land a sustained gamble. He pulled clear of the remainder that day and is just 2 lb higher in the weights, so he is worth chancing to go one place better over this longer trip under William Buick. Beggarman, who won at Chelmsford recently, can pose the biggest threat.

15:00 – Kaarahah

KAARANAH opened his account over a mile at Kempton in September and he’s held his form pretty well since, shaping better than the bare result on his last two starts at Wolverhampton and Lingfield. He was given too much to do when last seen, but looks interesting now back on turf, and returned to a longer trip from a 4 lb lower mark. Expert Witness, Ciotog and recent course and distance winner Aim For The Moon are a trio of others to consider.

15:30 – Blue Point Express

All but one in this line-up are making their debut, so the market is likely to reveal plenty, but before the benefit of market clues it is BLUE POINT EXPRESS who is put forward. Her sales price increased to £68,000 at the breeze-ups, which bodes well, and she looks an early type on paper. Art Design and Spherical are others well worthy of interest representing leading stables.

16:00 – Age Of Gold

Just one piece of form to go on which doesn’t set a high standard, so this is another race which looks ripe for a newcomer. Charlie Appleby does so well with his juveniles, especially first time up, so AGE OF GOLD has to be high on the shortlist. He cost €625,000 and is a brother to the speedy Fivethousandtoone, amongst others, so he seems sure to be popular. This will be a race to keep an eye on, though, and Mission Command looks another likely type on paper.

16:30 – Priscilla’s Wish

Prolific course winner PRISCILLA’S WISH teed herself up nicely for a return to this venue when an encouraging fifth, back after seven months off, at Brighton a few weeks ago. Now 5 lb below her last winning mark, she could be ready to strike. Red Maids can easily have her latest Haydock effort overlooked and better is expected here, reunited with William Buick. Falcon Nine, on debut for Charlie Fellowes, and Society Lion are also in the mix.

17:05 – Ivasecret

From a handicapping standpoint, it’s hard not to side with IVASECRET. He fell a long way in the weights prior to joining Ian Williams’ yard and attracted support when resuming winning ways over a mile at Kempton in February. He shaped well in three starts since, leaving the impression the race didn’t get to the bottom of him last time and, with Buick booked from his lower turf mark (8 lb lower), he has a chance. Specialist View and Seattle Time are others to consider, with Zafaan another to keep an eye on making his seasonal return.
