17:25 Baroque Buoy

Provided he gets into a suitable position from a wide draw, BAROQUE BUOY may well confirm the promise of his solid latest effort and go one better. Meet Me In Meraki, another contender whose last-time-out form has been boosted, is second choice ahead of True Blue Gent who is threatening to win a race of this nature. Several others also have possibilities.

18:00 Botas

Game Set and Lakota Brave aren’t fully exposed and can go well, while Rhythm N Rock (second choice) and the long-absent Nap Hand also have something to recommend them. The C&D handicap three weeks ago which featured six of today’s runners could prove the key formline. Dream Of Mischief did best of them on that occasion but BOTAS caught the eye in behind and he could prove a much more potent force today with a better draw and the run behind him.

18:30 Dollys Delight

Of the three runners with experience Spiritualism, who travelled powerfully through her soft-ground debut in France, may prove the pick but there are some interesting debutantes on show. Felina, Lightning Force and Yala (second choice) fit that bill but so does DOLLYS DELIGHT and she can continue Michael Bell’s bright start with his 2yo runners this year.

19:00 Bengurion

The Gosden newcomer Pipes And Drums looks a likely type on paper in a race where nearly all are hotfooting it to handicaps but BENGURION made a good start when a convincing winner at Lingfield in the autumn and although the form wasn’t up to a great deal she should improve for the run and the extra furlong. Eternal Spring has shown promise in each of her two C&D starts and has place claims.

19:30 Smouldering

The standard set by Dimsons isn’t a daunting one and it wouldn’t be a shock were one of Drumstick, Dazitoo or Hallie Angel, all well-related newcomers, to come out on top. That said, SMOULDERING offered hope of much better when second at Wolverhampton and she looks to have been found a good opportunity to go one better.

20:00 Akkadian Thunder (NAP)

A competitive handicap. Zero Carbon (second choice) boasts a fine record over C&D and he looks booked for another big run, while Giant, Rajindri, Thapa Vic and Metaverse also have something to recommend them. AKKADIAN THUNDER (NAP) ran on well to win at Newcastle 19 days ago, though, and this course winner could have more to give after just five starts.

20:30 Davideo

Ralph Beckett’s DAVIDEO has been too all or nothing for comfort but it’s interesting that his powerful connections go again as a 4yo and he has been gelded. Cannon Rock retains some upside and he’s second choice, though Artisan Dancer is rarely far away on the AW.

21:00 Federated

There is a stamina query to answer over the new trip but FEDERATED saw out the stiff 1m2f at Newcastle with no sign of flagging and he can progress further. Global Tycoon can provide the most danger but Artavian shouldn’t be underestimated as this track suited when he was a close third here last time out and he can improve for the run and the extra furlong. Assembled should also figure if tuned up after his time off.
