14:00 Mademoiselle
Most of these are making their debut, so the market will likely reveal plenty. But MADEMOISELLE is entitled to improve for her first run which came in a valuable novice event at Newmarket 13 days ago. She showed plenty of ability but left the impression she would come on for the run with both fitness and experience and it will likely take an above-average newcomer to beat her. Remaat, Lady Luzon and Sands of Dubai look the pick of them on paper.
14:35 – Bountiful
BOUNTIFUL made obvious appeal on paper when making her debut at Newmarket last month and was also well-found in the market. She showed some promise but needed experience regarding the crunch, running green and not picking up in the closing stages. That experience won’t be lost on her and this looks like an easier opportunity. Karl Burke has his two-year-olds in good form and Unspoken Love looks an interesting debutante.
15:10 – Seantrabh
Many of these promise to do better with their reappearance run behind them and, of those, SEANTRABH is just about the most appealing with his Musselburgh fourth working out well. He faded in the closing stages as though he’d come on a fair bit for that outing and he is now 1 lb lower in the weights. Spirit of Applause is also expected to jump forward, while Muker has to command respect eased slightly in class.
15:45 – Los Toldos
LOS TOLDOS was an expensive purchase as a yearling (750,000 guineas) and he shaped well amidst inexperience when finishing runner-up to a promising filly on his debut at Wolverhampton in February. The race winner gave the form a big boost at Chester the other week and Los Toldos didn’t have any problem going one place better at Kempton on his next start, while still looking rough around the edges. He should have no problem defying a penalty before having his sights raised further. Ghostlore is capable of winning a novice and is a clear next best.
16:20 – Brooklyn Nine Nine
BROOKLYN NINE NINE landed the odds narrowly to get off the mark on his return last season and he went on to show improved form in defeat later in the year. His previous two runs have come over five furlongs, but he promises to be suited by this step back up in trip, and fresh may be the time to catch him. Tinto is working his way back and rates a big threat along with Twelfth Knight, who had little luck at Ripon on return.
16:54 – New Image
NEW IMAGE seemingly hasn’t been the easiest to train. But he has made an excellent start for these connections, defying an 18-month absence, winning over five furlongs at Southwell, and getting back on the up returned to that venue over seven furlongs last time. There was plenty to like about that performance and he remains a horse to keep on the right side back on turf following a 4 lb rise. Mudamer is next best ahead of On A Session.
17:30 – Covert Legend
COVERT LEGEND is a chronic slow starter, but that has helped his mark, and he overcame a tardy start when winning at Wolverhampton last month. If he’s in that mood again, a 4 lb rise is well within his compass back on turf. Star Shield will likely give it a good go, with Red Hat Eagle on the shortlist following a promising return.
18:02 – Flyingdale
FLYINGDALE is in much better form than her form figures suggest, hampered when about to make a forward move over course and distance a month ago, so she’s worth chancing at likely rewarding odds from her career-low mark. Highjacked won in a better class of handicap last time so his claims are fairly obvious, with Gidwa another to note starting for Brian Ellison.
