13:50 Newbury – Desert Hero
This race is linked to the St Leger form from last year where Desert Hero finished third. He’s had a run this season when getting chinned at Sandown last month and he’s the most likely winner. So Moonstruck is worth keeping on side too and he could be an each-way value shout. If you don’t look at him on Saturday, keep an eye on him in the future.
14:05 Newmarket – Dashing Darcey
I’m not having Gressington as the favourite after finishing third at Southwell last time out. I’m with Dashing Darcey for Roger Varian, who has Aidan Keeley on board claiming 3lbs. He was unlucky at Chester last week and he never got going. He’s had a couple of decent runs recently and he’s the safest choice.
14:25 Newbury – Pocklington
I’m against William Haggas’ Relief Rally and I’m siding with Pocklington. He’s won on his two starts at Newcastle and he improved from his maiden novice win when running over 6f in March. I don’t know where his limit is so I’ll keep him on side!
14:40 Newmarket – Quinault (NAP)
Quinault was brilliant as a three-year-old and I’m hoping he’s improved after a break. Luke Catton claims 5lbs for Stuart Williams too.
15:00 Newbury – Chantilly
I was at Leopardstown when Chantilly won and impressively off a mark of 85. The win was solid considering Aidan O’Brien’s runners were not actually going that well. He’s gone up 10lbs and he could show more improvement from that win last month.
15:15 Newmarket – Repertoire
I’m taking a chance on Repertoire for David Simcock, who doesn’t win very often! He’s run well on numerous occasions and he impressed on his seasonal reappearance at Ascot earlier this month. I’m hoping he’ll have improved from that run and he’ll have fitness on his side.
15:35 Newbury – Big Rock
Big Rock is the most likely to go forward, I can’t see him hanging around! He was brilliant last season, including finishing second in the French Derby at Chantilly. He’s the most likely winner.
