14:15 York – It Ain’t Two
I was really impressed with IT AIN’T TWO who won at Newmarket last month. Several winners have come from it and the way she hit the line strongly that day indicates she may well improve again for the outing.
14:30 Newbury – Mustazeed (each-way)
MUSTAZEED was the winner of this race last year and I reckon he (each-way) can go close again. He’s only 5lb higher in the weights and ground conditions should be similar to that success 12 months ago.
14:45 York – Majestic
MAJESTIC is consistent and versatile and has had plenty of big-field experience. George Bass takes off a handy 3lb and the draw and trip should suit. It doesn’t matter about ground conditions either as Jack Channon’s runner has got form on different going.
15:15 York – True Cyan
Kathmandu boosted the form of TRUE CYAN at the weekend when finishing a head second to Rouhiya in the French 1,000 Guineas. The pair were third and fourth respectively to Pretty Crystal in the Group 3 Nell Gwyn Stakes over 7f at Newmarket last month. Roger Varian’s runner was a little unbalanced in the dip at HQ but ran well at the end. She drops to Listed class now and can go close.
15:45 York – Giavellotto
Vauban returns to action on the level in the Group 2 Yorkshire Cup and while it’s hard to go against a Willie Mullins-trained runner in either code – I’ll oppose him with GIAVELLOTTO who won this contest last year. He gets a good turnaround in the weights with Tower of London on their Riyadh and Meydan runs, where he had to concede 5lbs and 6lbs respectively. He could be a bit of value now against the favourite.
16:15 York – Under Siege
UNDER SIEGE ran very well behind Economics on debut in a small competitive field at Newbury and the winner ran away with the Dante on Thursday. Two other winners have already come from that race (with Galyx who finished 6th & Miletus 8th both winning at Windsor last week) and more winners will come from it. Andrew Balding’s runner could be valuable against First Conquest and Lead Artist who were only separated by a nose on their debuts at Newmarket.
