14:15 York – Betty Clover

BETTY CLOVER put up a smart performance on her racecourse debut at Bath and then ran well at Salisbury, in a very slowly ran contest. Betty Clover closed down the eventual winner Running Queen who had the run of the race on the front end. It’s a big opportunity for her rider Georgia Dobie in this Listed content. Let’s hope she takes the opportunity.

14:30 Newbury – Cracksking

James Fanshawe’s CRACKSKING rounded off last season with a decent victory at Newcastle, posting a good performance despite being a little keen early on. He reappeared over this course and distance over this course and distance 27 days ago to finish fifth to Qaasid and the yard’s runners always take a decent step forward from their return to action. We can expect an improved display from Cracksking off the same mark of 84.

14:45 York – Epic Poet (each-way)

EPIC POET is now with his third trainer and was picked up at the sales for 48,000 guineas and he may find a new lease of life for David O’Meara. He won Listed races and ran in Group 3 company in France and looks the type that the new outfit can enjoy a productive campaign with, He may well be back into black-type company shortly.

15:15 York – True Cyan

TRUE CYAN didn’t come down into the dip with any fluency at Newmarket,  but once she hit the rising ground True Cyan got balanced and hit the line quite nicely to finish fourth. Given this track’s much more galloping nature, we can expect to see an improved model now.

15:45 York – Gregory

GREGORY was going through the grades beautifully before an odds-on failure at this venue last season. We only saw the Gosden runner once after that up in Classic company at Doncaster, when fifth to Continuous. He looks the type to improve with age so he hasn’t reached his full potential yet.

16:15 York – Under Siege

UNDER SIEGE bumped into a smart one in Economics on his racecourse debut at Newbury (won the Dante Stakes impressively on Thursday)  and this looks a bit of a match-up between that form and Lead Artist’s run at Newmarket. He ran a bit ‘green’ throughout the early stages and in keeping with his pedigree, he’s an obvious improver.
