14:15 York – It Ain’t Two

ITV Racing is back at York and Newbury Friday starting here with a Listed event for juvenile fillies over 5f. Running Queen did this column a great favour when scoring last time but half the field was wiped out at the start that day and she might be flattered. I’m happy to stick with IT AIN’T TWO, who looked like a filly to follow when scoring in a big field at Newmarket for Hugo Palmer. A half-sister to the useful Salon d’Or, she ran on strongly out the dip and must have strong claims under William Buick.

14:30 Newbury – Cracksking (each-way)

ITV show one from Newbury Friday where I will be for the whole card for Sky Sports Racing. This is a wide-open handicap over 1m2f. Glam de Vega is fascinating but hard to go with after 640 days off the track. CRACKSKING is my each-way hope for James Fanshawe. He had been gelded before his first run this season and ran a cracker on his return over this course and distance when fifth in a big field. He was always handy that day from a low draw and off the same mark here might be a little more dangerous if just ridden slightly off the pace.

14:45 York – Majestic (each-way)

MAJESTIC is another favourite for this column and he saved the eachway money at Newmarket last time when fourth to Liberty Lane in a classy event. That was off the same mark of 91 as today, so the rating is workable, but the worst here is the trip. In the past 1m2f has stretched the stamina a little but I’ll take my chance with the Jack Channon runner each-way under George Bass who takes off a useful 3lb.

15:15 York – Bright Thunder

BRIGHT THUNDER might not have beaten much on debut at Haydock with the favourite blowing out badly, but she did everything right and looked promising. A 270,000 guineas half-sister to Iconic Moment, my hope should have more to come for Karl Burke and Clifford Lee.

15:45 York – Tower Of London

It is hard not to stick with TOWER OF LONDON who looked a stayer with a huge future when scoring at Meydan in March. The selection was only fourth in the 2023 St Leger but he seems a natural for all the top staying events this term and despite the presence of Vauban and Gregory I expect him to take all the beating for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore.

16:15 York – Lead Artist

I will be massively disappointed if LEAD ARTIST doesn’t hack up for John & Thady Gosden and Kieran Shoemark. The exciting son of Dubawi was denied by a fraction in the Wood Ditton at Newmarket and I’m sure he’s by far the best horse to come from that race. I expect him to improve bundles and he could be great. I’ll be gutted if he’s defeated.
