14:15 York – Crystal Delight
I’m not sure if CRYSTAL DELIGHT will be able to dominate proceedings like he did last time at Epsom with a few other pace angles mixed in here, but he’s completely unexposed, and new trainer Harry Eustace looks to have taken his form to another level. With such decent prize money on offer it’s not beyond the realms that he could also show up again on Friday as he’s entered in a 1m 4f handicap also on the final day of the Dante meeting.
14:45 York – Great Ambassador
GREAT AMBASSADOR was very rusty on his return at Newmarket, and after a tardy start he never really got back into it, on a day when you had to be handy to have a role in the finish. That was his return effort from 599 days away and he should clearly benefit from that outing. He has some solid course and distance form in the book at York.
15:15 York – Motassib
MOTASSIB has been a real slow burner for William Haggas’ team and appears to be getting quicker with age. His reappearance win at Doncaster under soft conditions was a solid effort on is return and there’s no reason to think he will not be fully effective under slightly quicker conditions. He’s got a few fancy entries and this will be a good gauge as to how far up the sprinting ladder he can go.
15:45 York – Friendly Soul
FRIENDLY SOUL looks the real deal – in keeping with her beautiful pedigree – after a very smooth success in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket last time. She is blessed with a huge amount of natural speed. At the moment it doesn’t look like John & Thady Gosden are going to stretch her out in distance for the 1m 4f Epsom Oaks and she may well be kept to the 1m 2f discipline.
16:15 York – Elmonjed
ELMONJED did really well to win carrying a penalty at Haydock when we last saw him. He came from way back after the field had got the first run on him. There was talk of him going over to France afterwards for a Group race, but William Haggas has been patient with him since then. The trainer loves a winner at York and he could be the squad’s banker for the meeting.
