A strong pace looks likely here thanks to the presence of Elladora, Asmund and Saisons d’Or amongst others which should tee the race up perfectly for multiple course winner MUTANAASEQ who has been given a chance by the handicapper and gets the nod in an open-looking handicap. The aforementioned Saisons d’Or and recent C&D winner Variety Island head the list of dangers, along with last year’s winner Obee Jo.

Preference is for southern raider DISCLOSURE, a half-sister to the 1¾m winner Marmara Sea, who acquitted herself well in a couple of starts over shorter last year and remains with potential. Thirsk fourth Phoenix of Dreams (assuming she handles the much quicker ground here) and Monfrid (tongue-tied for the first time) rate the principal dangers ahead of the penalised C&D winner Bubbles Wonky.

The Ed Dunlop-trained GREEK GIANT was a creditable 1½ lengths second to Fox Flame at Chelmsford last time, ideally needing a stiffer test. He is still relatively unexposed as a stayer, will appreciate the step back up in trip here, and can resume winning ways. Joint top-weight Animato, who also ran well in defeat last time, and Marbuzet, who should come on plenty for his reappearance, look the likeliest dangers.

The one who appeals most is WILLOLARUPI who was worn down in the shadow of the post at Beverley last week and is taken to go one better off the same mark with this sharper track likely to play to his strengths (has run well here before). Though the handicapper has nudged her up 2 lb, Keldeo has a good chance of reversing recent Musselburgh placings with Zaphea on these revised terms and she rates the main danger. Desert Master rates better than his Southwell flop last time and is not without each-way hope.

The Paul Midgley-trained SHERDIL has hit the target on the all-weather at Newcastle the last twice and, still on a workable mark, is taken to complete the hat-trick back on turf. Having slipped to a dangerous mark, stablemate Birkenhead is second choice ahead of Golden Rainbow, who was hot on the heels of the selection on his latest start. The Grey Lass won’t be far away if ready to roll following a break, while Declan Carroll took this race last year with a well-backed winner so any market move for Irish Dancer should be noted.
16:17 Twoforthegutter
A strong pace look likely here which could suit the 14-race maiden TWOFORTHEGUTTER who deserves to get his head in front and he is taken to do just that on the back of a solid second over 1¾m here recently. The very well-treated Night Life showed signs of a revival on her reappearance at Wolverhampton and she will be a threat if able to build on that. Prince Hector (cheekpieces reapplied) and Polish recruit Stellarmasterpiece both make some each-way appeal.
16:47 Hail Sezer
The presence of Ghathanfar, Langholm, Quercus and Zargun should mean a red-hot pace which will suit HAIL SEZER whose record when fresh is good and he could be the answer to this tricky-looking handicap. Geoffrey Harker’s representative resumes on a workable mark and he shades preference ahead of Langholm, who has acquitted himself well on each of his three starts this season, twice going close over 7f here. The 9-y-os Mokaatil and Zargun are both likely to be on the premises, while Ghathanfar is another with an each-way chance.
