The latest racing odds are on PaddyPower.com now13:30 Ascot – King Of The Plains
King Of The Plains, a son of Roaring Lion is now trained by James Horton. He was second in a good maiden at York last season and finished off the campaign by winning a handicap at Newcastle when trained by Charlie Johnston. The four-year-old still looks to have room for improvement on his current handicap mark.
13:50 Lingfield – If Not Now
It could be a big day for Ralph Beckett and it’s interesting that he pitches If Not Now into this contest. He ran in the German Derby last season and was an impressive winner of a Sandown handicap before that. He’s been gelded and there could be more to come.
14:05 Ascot – Zouzanna
Harry Charlton’s filly Zouzanna has form on quick ground and that will suit her. She’s won over 7f and is only 3lb higher in the handicap now. William Buick has been booked.
14:25 Lingfield – Treasure
The Epsom Oaks Trial and Treasure catches my eye for the Beckett yard and Rossa Ryan. The trainer has won this contest three times in the past. She’s a big filly and if she’s filled out her frame over the winter could be a force to be reckoned with. She’s only had the one run last season when winning on heavy ground at Nottingham over a mile. She looks sure to appreciate the step up in trip to almost 1m 4f and none of the others are unbeaten so it’s an open-looking contest.
14:40 Ascot – Hickory (each-way)
Hickory is well used to big-field handicaps so the Victoria Cup should be right up his street. He’s drawn six and off a rating of 89 he looks a really solid each-way play for the James Fanshawe team.
15:00 Lingfield – Illinois
The Epsom Derby Trial where Illinois can come on from his Leopardstown run a few weeks ago. Ryan Moore wasn’t overly hard on him at the Dublin track and he looked like he needed the run and would sharpen up for it. Trainer Aidan O’Brien’s had a decent week at Chester too after a few mis-fired early in the season.
15:15 Haydock – Lark In The Mornin & Teddy Blue (each-way)
The Irish challenger Lark In The Mornin gets the four-year-old allowance of 6lbs which is a huge help. He won the Boodles Hurdle at Cheltenham on ground that connections thought mightn’t play to his strengths so this quicker ground should suit him much better. Teddy Blue could be worth a small each-way interest for the Gary Moore team.
15:35 Lingfield – Remarquee
Remarquee, a daughter of Kingman was highly-tried as a three-year-old and finished a well beaten second to Nashwa in the Falmouth Stakes. She’s had a wind operation and can give Wathnan Racing a big winner under James Doyle.
