1:30 Ascot – Rhythmic Intent (each-way)

It’s been a while since RHYTHMIC INTENT graced the winners’ enclosure. But he’s not short on ability and seems to have plenty of pep in his step for an eight-year-old, especially now he’s got down to a very attractive and lowly-looking 81 rating. Silvestre de Sousa, the 1,000 Guineas hero, gets called up for the ride which is a major positive as this lad can be a little lazy.

1:50 Lingfield – True Legend

TRUE LEGEND was a typical improver going up through the grades handicaps-wise last season. His winning run ended when he started to get a little bit too free and keen in his races early on. Maybe a busy spell had caught up with him and now returning fresh we can expect him to continue that climb up the ladder.

2:05 Ascot – Rose Prick

ROSE PRICK outran her massive odds in Listed company on her return at Kempton this season, but there appeared to be no fluke about it. Ed Walker’s yard continues in hot form and she should find the ease in grade to her liking for an overdue return to the winners’ enclosure.

2:25 – Lingfield – Rubies Are Red

RUBIES ARE RED looks like a reluctant leader on her return to the racecourse 31 days ago. If her pedigree is anything to go by she will be much better when dropped in and given a chance just like her full sister, Found, blossomed. Danielle will be all the rage after a bloodless victory at Wetherby, but there didn’t seem to be any strength in the opposition.

2:40 Ascot – The Wizard Of Eye (each-way)

THE WIZARD OF EYE has always had a massive amount of natural ability and has run in some high-quality races. He returns for the current campaign having been gelded, switched stables to Charlie Fellowes, and surprisingly is relatively unexposed as a handicapper.

3:00 Lingfield – Defiance

DEFIANCE couldn’t have been more of an eyecatcher on his return at Epsom last time as he was starting to power home towards the finish of that 1m 2f Listed contest. The step up in distance to 1m 4f for this Epsom Derby trial will suit him down to the ground and he can take another step towards the colts’ Classic next month.

3:35 Lingfield – Remarquee

REMARQUEE didn’t get much luck after a winning start last season and she was pitched into the highest level four times. She has been bought by Wathnan Racing and has also had a wind operation. This drop in grade can give her a nice confident booster before continuing her step back up in grade.
