1:30 Chester – Copper Knight (Each-Way)
The old boy COPPER KNIGHT has dropped down to a very attractive looking mark of just 75 and feels poised to strike having had his initial blowout two weeks ago at Beverly. The drying ground will suit him and he has been handed a decent stall position in number 4 to attack from. He certainly has each-way claims.
2:05 Chester – The Flying Seagull
THE FLYING SEAGULL has been handed a decent starting position for his course debut and the Hugo Palmer team are again using the services of multiple champion jockey Oisin Murphy. With the form horse Rashabar drawn out on the wide side in 10, his job hasn’t been made easy, and The Flying Seagull should get a good run in the box seat just behind the pace.
2:35 Chester – Witness Stand (Each-Way)
WITNESS STAND bumped into some very useful rivals last season and that theme continued with his first run in 2024, when clashing with the 2000 Guineas winner Notable Speech. Now in to slightly calmer waters, he already has some winning course form to his name, and can be held up and played late by the excellent Daniel Tudhope.
3:05 Chester – Gods Window
GODS WINDOW looked ready to stake his claim for Derby glory, having produced a very good effort in the Futurity at Doncaster, despite being very keen, and then winning as he liked in a small field at Nottingham. This is a bigger test as he steps up in distance, but he has a massive amount of untapped potential, and can cement the jockey/trainer partnership of Kieran Shoemark and the Gosdens going forward.
3:40 Chester – Deauville Legend
DEAUVILLE LEGEND had a brilliant 2022, winning the Great Voltigeur at York in emphatic fashion, prior to running a very good fourth in the Melbourne Cup. We only saw him on three occasions last season suggesting the travels took their toll. This looks an ideal starting point for him to return, with the team in very good form, and he can springboard his route back up the grades.
