1:30 Chester – Democracy Dilemma

ITV Racing Thursday starts here with a handicap over 5f. A wide-open event. DEMOCRACY DILEMMA gets a lovely draw here for Robert Cowell and Tom Marquand is just the type of jockey to take advantage of. A handicap mark of 97 is workable and a run in Jebel Ali in February was good. In a race with plenty of pace, my selection still has a decent chance to burst on from the inside and make all.

1:50 Huntingdon – King Of The Road

ITV also show one race from Huntingdon Thursday which is this handicap hurdle over nearly 2m4f. KING OF THE ROAD is up in the weights now after two wins for Ben Pauling at Market Rasen and Taunton. That said, he’s fit and well and will pop out and try and make all again and he might get a few of these at it. I’ll risk he’s got another success in him under Ben Jones.

2:05 Chester – Rashabar

RASHABAR has to be the selection after finishing third behind the fascinating Hawaiian at Newbury first time out. That form has already been franked and this colt should take some stopping for Brian Meehan and Sean Levey.

2:35 Chester – Dashing Darcy (each-way)

Never So Brave might be chucked in, but DASHING DARCY surely will give us an each-way run for our money. James Doyle rides for Roger Varian, and the consistent colt returned this term with a fine second at Newbury when keeping on well. He stays strong.

3:05 Chester – Capulet

CAPULET looked slow as an old boat when beaten at Chelmsford this season but he might improve bundles for that and this step-up in trip is badly needed. With a question about the ground for God’s Window, I’m happy to take a chance with the Aidan O’Brien runner, who Ryan Moore rides and was a fine third to Guineas fourth Ghostwriter when staying on in the Royal Lodge as a juvenile.

3:40 Chester – Arrest

You could get a funny result here as I’m not sure ARREST is one to rely on. That said, he’s got the class to beat this lot as he showed when second in the St Leger last season. The former Derby favourite will improve massively for fitness for a first run at Newbury this term—Kieran Shoemark rides for John & Thady Gosden.
