Cradle Of Love has the benefit of a run but the newcomers are interesting. A chance is taken on UNEXPECTED ISSUES, whose brother Cradle Star was a smart 2yo for the same stable and he came to hand early. Aidan O’Brien had options at the initial entry stage, and he relies on Heavens Gate, who is out of a half-sister to 1,000 Guineas winner Ghanaati.
13:35 – Air Force One
Ojw Legacy looks sure to go close again and Back Down Under has to be shortlisted with his level of form and experience. However, it could pay to take a chance on AIR FORCE ONE who ran in a maidens at top tracks for David O’Meara and his excellent new trainer Paddy Twomey wastes no time in reaching for headgear.
14:05 – Artful Approach (NAP)
On the back of a good start in handicap company when fourth of 21 against older rivals over C&D, ARTFUL APPROACH (NAP) gets the vote. Layoftheland was another to show up well on a handicap debut and he comes into the running along with the consistent Velvet Skies, and Beano Power, who could be on a good mark now.
14:35 – Nouvel Espoir
Although he didn’t shine on his seasonal/handicap debut at the Curragh, NOUVEL ESPOIR still appeals as being well treated based on the pick of his maiden form which included a good run over C&D. He’s very unexposed compared to most of these. Step Back In Time showed up well on her reappearance here when she had Stanhope and Art Of Unity in behind. All three horses have good records at this venue and merit consideration as does infrequent winner Un Bacio Ancora after a fine run at the Curragh.
15:05 – Bay Of Sanibel
The Harrington filly BAY OF SANIBEL goes well here and was a creditable second on her seasonal/handicap debut. She’s up in grade, but this extra furlong will suit, and she can confirm last year’s C&D maiden form with Neptunes Staircase even though the latter, who also gets first-time headgear, has a pull at the weights which gives him a good chance on paper. Zoffman ran well in a different 1m5f course handicap on his return from a lay-off but is not sure to appreciate this longer trip.
15:35 – Uncanny
Having shaped like a certain future winner on her debut, UNCANNY is a short price to go one better in an ordinary contest. She holds Group 2 entries over this trip. Concluding Call was 2.5l behind the her at the Curragh and is the main threat but it’s hard to see her reversing on that form. Golden Belle showed mild promise on her introduction at Dundalk and has a placed shout.
16:05 – Jazz Forever
Paul Flynn’s JAZZ FOREVER has a decent draw to work with and he’s off the same mark as last month’s win on the AW. He’s shown some promise on the grass. It’s hard to make solid cases for the others, though Palo Duro is an interesting handicap debutant, and Apprentice has form claims should the new blinkers get her back on track.
16:35 – Duleek Street
David Egan looks to be an interesting booking for DULEEK STREET who should be well handicapped given the level he’s reached over hurdles. Jawhary ran well enough at Gowran on just his second run for Adrian McGuinness’ yard and his turn could be near. Elsa’s Pride and Master Dunraven lack match practice but both have the form to feature.
