16:15 – Perceval Legallois

This is a race with a record of the top weight winning and Mister Policeman’s stepping up in trip. Willie Mullins hoped earlier in the year that he might be an Arkle-type horse and he obviously didn’t fulfil that but he won over 2m2f at Thurles last time when long odds on. Tactical Move’s form looks strong too but the one that catches the eye a little bit off a mark of 137 is Perceval Legallois. He was well fancied before falling in the Leopardstown Chase and he could take all the beating.

16:50 – Allegorie De Vassy

Allegorie De Vassy had an excuse last year, she came back from Cheltenham and we probably pulled her out too quickly and ran her at Fairyhouse which left its mark on her when it came to Punchestown. This year she skipped Fairyhouse and has been given time to freshen up. Even though she’s won a couple times on heavy ground I don’t think that’s really her forte. She’ll be a better mare on a dryer surface. She can turn over Brides Hill this time around.

17:25 – Billaway (each way)

Three miles always stretches Royal Rendezvous and I’d be slightly worried about him at that distance. 2m5f always seemed to be his trip so I’d be slightly worried about him staying. Its On The Line is the one to win but it’s a big field for a Hunters’ Chase. However, I’m going to go each way on the old timer Billaway. I rode him the other morning and he just shaped like a horse that’s improved for a couple of starts. We could see an improved performance from him.

18:00 – State Man

State Man just does what he has to do and that’s what he’ll do once again on Friday. He doesn’t win by far but he always gets the job done. If you’re interested in backing him to win by a certain amount of lengths, I’d stick with the under rather than the over!

18:35 – Ballyburn

Ballyburn was really good at Cheltenham and he was brilliant at the Dublin Racing Festival too. He’s impossible to oppose much like State Man. Paul Townend will be seeing Ballyburn and State Man as crucial runners in his champion jockey battle with Jack Kennedy.

19:05 – Anotherway

Anotherway was travelling really well before he fell at Fairyhouse last time out. Paul has opted to ride him and he’s got the best form in the race. He should be hard to beat.

19:40 – Fishery Lane

Fishery Lane came from well off the pace in the Champion Bumper at Cheltenham and his form suggests he should be good enough to win this, so hopefully he does!
