13:45 Newmarket – Rabaah
RABAAH was a strong favourite and justified it on both occasions at Lingfield and Wolverhampton. He then jumped up in, grade and didn’t run too badly in behind Shaquille. He put in a pleasing performance in a massive field at York where he was slowly away and ran with credit to be only beaten by two lengths, he’s got more of an upside than most in this line-up.
14:05 Goodwood – Marcella (Each-Way)
MARCELLA did incredibly well from the back of the pack at Kempton on her return and has already proven herself to handle a bit of cut in the ground last season, the advantage of having a run already is not to be underestimated, and she also gets a whopping 13lb weight for age allowance.
14:20 Newmarket – Torito & Mustazeed (Each-Way)
TORITO could well prove to be the proverbial ‘Group’ horse in a handicap. He’s got a wonderful pedigree from a family that John & Thady Gosden know well and was arguably unlucky at the Royal meeting when we last saw him. MUSTAZEED is down at the bottom of the weights, yet he proved this mark was not beyond him with an eye-catching run at Sandown last season. The yard are going well and he gets lumps of lead from all of the field.
14:40 Thirsk – Look Back Smiling
LOOK BACK SMILING was a big winner for Gemma Tutty at the opening Turf meeting of the season at Doncaster. He slightly disappointed next time, but was firmly back on track with an unlucky fourth at Leicester when he did best of those held up off a very slow gallop. He’s got a good inside draw and has no worries with the underfoot conditions for the Royal Hunt Cup.
14:55 Newmarket – Mitbaahy
MITBAAHY was a real eye-catcher on his first try for his new owners at Newmarket, doing really well from the back of the pack in a much bigger field than this. He’s going to get the Jamie Spencer treatment in the saddle and will be held up for a late rattle, but with only eight runners declared, he should not be too far back to launch that challenge.
15:35 Newmarket – Alyanaabi (Each-Way)
ALYANAABI ran an excellent second to the big talking horse City of Troy over 7 furlongs in the Dewhurst Stakes here last season and looks poised to run a big race on his return. He had a racecourse gallop a couple of weeks ago at the Craven meeting and despite not really sparkling, it may have been required to get him to concert pitch. A reproduction of his juvenile form will see him hopefully hit the places at a big each-way price.
