SATEDATY SADATY took a massive step forward when we saw him on his return at Newcastle especially considering that the Andrew Balding team were a couple of weeks behind from a fitness point of view. There’s every reason to expect he can take another jump forward given the extra quarter mile on this galloping track.
14:40 Goodwood – Ellomate
ELLOMATE was the favourite to make a winning racecourse debut at Wolverhampton 25 days ago. Sadly for his backers he had his mind on other things and was very coltish in the preliminaries. Considering all that, he did well only to be beaten by two lengths in the end and with the benefit of experience, can step up dramatically.
15:00 Newmarket – English Oak
ENGLISH OAK has been a low-mileage improver for the Ed Walker team who are in tremendous form of late. He has improvement left in him and a reproduction of his excellent second at Ascot when we last saw him in October 2023 should see him go very well. This intermediate trip of 7f looks like an ideal starting point.
15:15 Goodwood – Live In The Moment (each-way)
LIVE IN THE MOMENT looks sure to go well at a big price as he has a bit of form when coming back after a break. A look back through some of his past performances that saw him competitive with a triple-digit rating, makes him of interest from a lowly perch of 85 now. He’s already a course and distance winner.
15:35 Newmarket – Alaskan Gold
ALASKAN GOLD ran a decent race at Newbury on his return considering he got caught in between which of the two groups to follow and then had to make his challenge down towards the centre of the track in a blanket finish, he’s not overly big and probably one or two in this lineup may well have his measure as the season progresses. But for now, he might have the raw ability to get the job done.
15:50 Goodwood – Dream Composer
DREAM COMPOSER has been a super consistent performer on the whole and he arrives here looking to go back-to-back in this contest from a mark 5lbs lower than last season. He’s also proven with a good bit of dig in the ground and the forecast is not looking too clever.
16:10 Newmarket – Naqeeb
NAQEEB was always going to attract a lot of interest being a brother to the mighty Baaeed. But unlike his brother, he stays particularly well having climbed rapidly up the ladder in a short space of time. Having had only the six races so far, he hasn’t finished out of the first three yet. I will take a chance on the William Haggas team having him ready to go after a break. He’s been gelded over the winter for added focus.
