Each and every day of the racing year, we bring you a bumper NAPS Table to give you the inside scoop on all the plays you’ll need that day.

Don’t know what a NAPs Table is? We’ll tell you! It’s an independently run competition involving the cream of the British and Irish racing press whose positions in the table are based on their profits to Level Stakes. And just like all sports competitions worldwide, those doing best are towards the top of the table.

So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…

14:15 Ascot – Sweet William (Racing Post)

SWEET WILLIAM sported headgear from the outset (also ridden by Robert Havlin in all starts) and progressed from handicaps to Group 2 races for final two starts last term when giving Trueshan plenty to think about in the Doncaster Cup (2m2f, soft) and finished in a below-form third at this track. Needs to show a little more, but he’s relatively lightly raced (nine races) and may have more to offer.

15:25 Ascot – Woolhampton (Racing Post)

WOOOLHAMPTON was a C&D winner (good to soft) off 1lb higher last summer; also ran a fine race in a Class 2 event over C&D (good) in October when finishing strongly up the middle of the track. A most encouraging return to action at Wolverhampton 18 days ago, when without usual headgear (back on today). Dropped in from a bad start but made up plenty of ground late on, there’s lots to like.

17:25 Punchestown – Galopin Des Champs (Postdata)

GALOPIN DES CHAMPS has been beaten only twice when competing over fences, each time by Fastorslow, first time in this race last season and the second in the John Durkan on his reappearance. Reasserted his supremacy in the Irish Gold Cup and tightened his grip on the chasing scene with a second Cheltenham Gold Cup triumph; now has 10lb in hand over Fastorslow in the official figures.

19:30 Kempton – Jayyash (Spotlight)

JAYYASH is still working it out as he goes along, landing the odds in a C&D novice last month despite pulling early and edging right; weighted up to that day’s RPR but progressing at a stealthy rate and likely to be better again.
