15:10 Southwell – Smart Hero (Sporting Times)
Money for any of the newcomers should be noted, but this looks quite a warm race of its type with a few of these having already shown plenty of promise. Approved Star, Modern Times and the Derby entry Sardinian Warrior fall into that category with the latter looking the pick of the trio, but SMART HERO is given the nod. His neck defeat on his Kempton debut 11 days ago was probably an even better performance than it looked.
15:40 Southwell – Wonderful Eagle (Racing Post)
Prydwen scoring with such authority in the AW Championships Marathon at Newcastle last time was something of an eye-opener. He may well meet his match today, however, up against WONDERFUL EAGLE whose step up in trip on the Flat can assist him to gain a follow-up to last month’s 1m6f win at this track. Diamond Bay’s return to form last time puts him firmly in the argument, while Pledgeofallegiance should have more to offer for Sir Mark Prescott
16:40 Wetherby – Ballyare (Irish Daily Star)
Dandy Spirit suddenly returned to form to win this race in refitted blinkers a year ago and history might repeat itself. However, the suggestion is another well-handicapped C&D winner, BALLYARE, who has not been firing on all cylinders for a while now but took a step back in the right direction when returned to turf last month. Special Mayson and Phoenix Star are others with possibilities.
16:30 Bath – Moonspirit (Daily Telegraph)
Trip To Rome should be winning races soon and he can go well but MOONSPIRIT made giant strides in her first season of racing and, with more to come this year, she can further enhance her strike rate. The handicap newcomers Lakota Brave and Arctic Mountain both bring potential into the race.
