So, we decided to put that golden guide to the test and use it to steer you towards what could be a savvy Lucky 15 (4 horses, 15 bets) today. The four you’ll see below are the selections of some of the top-performing tipsters in the Table. Let’s get to the picks…
13:15 Sandown – Hedge Fund (Racing Post)
Progressive once switched to nurseries last season, winning at Wolverhampton (6f, AW) and Ffos Las (5f, good); excelled in a Listed race in France on his final 2yo start and was hit with a 10lb rise for his troubles; but that doesn’t look insurmountable given how strongly he travelled through his Bath reappearance 19 days ago (5f, heavy), picked off late by one who’s since followed up in Listed company; should be sharper for that run, he’s well drawn and looks to be a leading contender.
15:00 Sandown – Charyn (NAP) (Spotlight)
Acts on soft going; ran respectably in some top races won by Paddington last season; readily justified favouritism in the Doncaster Mile (Listed) on reappearance, recording an RPR that makes him an above-average winner of that race; looks set for a productive 4yo campaign and warrants respect. He has plenty of Group form and should cope with the step back up in class.
16:25 Perth – Plaisir Des Flos (The Times)
Plaisir Des Flos is clearly ahead of the game after winning comfortably off this mark last week at Ayr. Helped by the favourite departing three out but he beat the rest well enough over 2m4f (soft) to bring up the hat-trick; that was a conditionals’ race so he escapes a penalty; obvious claims in this one.
18:30 Newcastle – Barleybrown (Daily Star)
Two solid efforts at 7f and about 1m for his new yard this spring and may have bumped into one at Wolverhampton last time; is surely up to winning off this mark.
