17:30 – Trojan Truth
James Owen has enjoyed a good start to the year with his older Flat runners so Laser Focus needs considering. Otherwise, the C&D handicap in which Damoiseau had the unlucky TROJAN TRUTH behind three weeks ago may well hold the key, with the latter taken to turn things round.
18:00 – Peace Walk
There’s speed in PEACE WALK’s pedigree but he looked more about stamina on soft/heavy ground last autumn, and is preferred to Educate, who should appreciate the stiffer test off the back of a fair Kempton comeback.
18:30 – Rainwater
Although she appeared to do little wrong here a fortnight ago, that was Beveragino’s fourth defeat at 2/1 or shorter and she looks vulnerable again in first-time headgear. Smouldering is an interesting newcomer but the market spoke very positively for RAINWATER ahead of one run last summer and he gets the nod on comeback.
19:00 – Amroon
Tenyatta is the obvious starting point, off the back of a recent C&D win, but she can miss the break and/or pull hard, so isn’t without risk from the outside stall. Money for any of the handicap newcomers, notably Warrior Tune and Tantomile, would give things a different slant, but otherwise AMROON could have a bit more to offer now going beyond sprint trips for the first time having been gelded.
19:30 – Seal Of Solomon
A straightforward, proven winner who’s done it over various trips and surfaces, SEAL OF SOLOMON is entitled to have come in for his recent return from a ten-month layoff. Evaluation hasn’t had much luck since returning from a year off and is second choice.
20:00 – Coolree (nap)
It’s easy enough to pick holes in most in a weak handicap and this may be best left to COOLREE (nap), who’s been threatening since returning from wind surgery and will be happier back down from the extended 1m 1f. Covert Legend has the ability and maybe Rossa Ryan’s the man for the job, but he’s very risky.
20:30 – Mumcat
Front-runner Coast is better drawn than the pair she split over C&D a fortnight ago and that may allow her to turn things round with unlucky loser Arlecchino’s Gift on 2lb better terms, but this might be set up for MUMCAT who hasn’t had the breaks lately. Seas Of Elzaam needs some luck, down from 7f and coming from stall 13, while Billian is another to consider switched to a new form of headgear.
21:00 – Mine That Ship
Tathmeen and Q Twenty Boy are capable of playing a part, if they get a good pace to aim at, which does seem likely, while Bernard Spierpoint may come out best of the quartet who clashed over C&D 13 days ago. However, the vote goes to MINE THAT SHIP who found 7f too far in the last two, and is now 2lb lower than when just beaten over this trip on stable debut at Chelmsford the time before.
