13:15 – Sans Bruit

Though he faces some competition for the lead, French recruit SANS BRUIT was most impressive when routing a bigger field at Aintree last week and Paul Nicholls’ unexposed six-year-old should be able to take a 10 lb rise in his stride now kept to a speed-favouring track. The strong-travelling Uncle Phil has already developed into a smart chaser and rates as a major threat as part of the raiding Mullins battalion, with Traprain Law also capable of adding to his positive C&D record. Nicky Henderson has won three of the last six renewals so the game Persian Time, who is only up 3 lb for his Kempton win, is afforded plenty of respect.

13:50 – Marble Sands

An open affair with the vote going to MARBLE SANDS, who made it two from two for this rider at Musselburgh and, fit from the Flat, still looks to be on a fair mark after a 6 lb rise. The lightly-weighted Maclaine makes the shortlist given the manner of his stylish win at Newbury, while at the other end of the weights, the classy Sharjah can make his presence felt down in class if his stamina holds up (unraced over further than two and a half miles). A tongue-tie could see improvement from Inch House after his Newbury flop, while Montgomery is respected up in grade but probably needs rain to feature prominently.

14:25 – Cracking Rhapsody

Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ CRACKING RHAPSODY was very strong at the finish when landing Kelso’s Morebattle Hurdle and Ewan Whillans’ upwardly-mobile hurdler can make light of an 8 lb rise in the weights to complete a hat-trick. County Hurdle runner-up L’Eau du Sud must go well again and heads the list of dangers, while Salsada teed herself up well for this when a resurgent third at Newcastle and is also highly respected. Last year’s winner Rubaud and First Street (who has had a wind op) complete the shortlist in this highly competitive handicap.

15:00 – Larchmont Lass

She may need to be ridden more prominently than usual given a lack of pace in the race. But LARCHMONT LASS shaped with a good deal of promise on handicap debut in the EBF Final at Newbury a month ago and with three miles sure to suit, she’s a very attractive proposition from the same mark. Willie Mullins is triple-handed, with A Penny A Hundred probably the pick of the trio with Paul Townend taking over in the saddle. Of the rest, Chepstow winner Coco Mademoiselle is a big player if lasting out over this new trip.

15:35 – Git Maker

Jamie Snowden can land another big handicap chase courtesy of Timeform ‘Horse In Focus’ GIT MAKER. He bumped into a subsequent Grade 1 winner at Cheltenham and the fact he pulled 18 lengths clear of the reopposing Whacker Clan in third suggests he could be well treated here off only 1 lb higher. Willie Mullins is going all-out for the British title after last weekend’s Grand National success and his unexposed pair Macdermott, who won well at Fairyhouse last time, and Spanish Harlem, the mount of Paul Townend, are very interesting contenders now stepping up markedly in trip. This better ground will suit Stay Away Fay, for whom the market should be informative. Inis Oirr hopes to emulate the same stable’s 2021 winner Mighty Thunder who had also landed Edinburgh National en route to Ayr. Eider winner Anglers Crag is respected, too.

16:10 – Young Jack

Several powerful yards are represented. But, it’s YOUNG JACK who is selected to come out on top having not been seen to best effect when third (a place behind Milcree) in a falsely-run novice at Newcastle five weeks ago. This step-up in trip should be right up his street sent handicapping and he can get the better of Welcom To Cartries, who is yet to finish outside the first two places. The prolific Major Fortune, Kempton winner Masaccio and Irish raiders Chosen Witness and I Love My Baie can fight out third.

16:45 – Quai De Bourbon

The exciting QUAI DE BOURBON looked a smart performer in the making when posting an excellent third in an exceptionally strong renewal of the Martin Pipe at last month’s Cheltenham Festival, so he’s very much the one to beat, especially with further progress on the cards. Unexposed pair Twoohthree, who shaped better than the distance beaten suggests when second at Navan last time and Punchestown winner Billericay Dickie are feared most.

17:20 – C’est Ta Chance

The top-rated C’EST TA CHANCE has the best form and his latest effort in the Champion Bumper is best to draw a line through, so he takes preference over the exciting (and expensive) point-winner Califet En Vol, with the unbeaten Reflection of You, another costly recruit from between the flags, an obvious player. Thistle Be The One had the run of the race last time and may not be as fortunate on that front here.
