13:45 – Chianti Classico
CHIANTI CLASSICO is my pick in one of the most competitive races of the week. There may only be six in the field, but you cannot write any of them off. Giovinco will outrun his odds as he is a strong traveller and a brilliant jumper, I can see him turning in with every chance. I’m going for Chianti Classico after his success at the Cheltenham Festival. I love how he finished and I can see him doing the same here.
14:20 – Jango Baie (each-way)
JANGO BAIE gets the vote now Nicky Henderson has had a winner on Thursday with Sir Gino. He is a Grade 1 winner at this venue as a novice hurdler and now makes his handicap debut. The step up in trip to 2m 4f is not a problem for him. Ocastle Des Mottes is a player in this. They have put a hood on him to get him to relax. Paul Townend takes over in the saddle and he will try to switch him off. If he relaxes he is a danger off his handicap mark.
14:55 – Dysart Enos
DYSART ENOS looked so good when winning at Aintree last year, beating Golden Ace. She is in the field again having won the Mares Novices Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival when Dysart Enos was a non-runner. Fergal O’Brien’s filly gets 7lbs from the boys and could spring a little surprise.
15:30 – Jonbon / Protektorat
JONBON loves this track and was a winner here last year. If all is well in the Henderson camp (and hopefully it is after Sir Gino on Thursday), he is the one to beat, having missed Cheltenham. If we get to this race on the second day and Nicky Henderson has not had a winner, I would have been backing Protektorat.
PROTEKTORAT is a huge danger. The Ryanair Chase winner can cause a problem for Jonbon if he’s not 100 per cent.
16:05 – Classic Getaway (each-way)
CLASSIC GETAWAY is a huge horse and is well up to carrying the weight. He ran a superb race at Tramore in January and dropping back to this 2m 5f trip should suit him perfectly. I’m taking him at what should be a decent each-way price.
16:40 – The Jukebox Man
THE JUKEBOX MAN got chinned on the line at Cheltenham in the Albert Bartlett. He stays the 3m trip well and will love the ground. That that could count for plenty. Shanagh Bob is a smart performer and this test should suit him perfectly. He is better than his mark.
17:15 – Go Dante
GO DANTE won well at Sandown, ran a solid race in the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury and earlier in the Greatwood Hurdle. Ground conditions are perfect and there is still some mileage in his handicap mark.
