13:45 – Iroko
I’m not convinced by Inothewayurthinkin and his Kim Muir win didn’t impress me too much. I’m siding with Iroko, who was an impressive winner at Cheltenham last year. He’s a really good prospect and I doubt he was 100 per cent during his run at Cheltenham after being off the track for four months. He shaped well that day in a race where the front two got away from the field and he can show improvement.
14:20 – Whats Up Darling
The market has started to find Kateira but she can go well. Whats Up Darling could be a better value pick. He finished sixth at Cheltenham behind Better Days Ahead and he can go well. There are plenty in here that have a genuine chance but I’ll side with Gordon Elliott’s runner.
14:55 – Firefox
Firefox shaped best of all in the Supreme and he’s a solid pick. He travelled really strongly last time out when third behind Slade Steel at Cheltenham. He was unlucky in that race and his form this season has worked out well. He’s the one to beat.
15:30 – Protektorat (NAP)
This looks to be one of the easiest races to predict of the week! I’m fancying Pic DOrhy to run his usual solid race to finish second but Protektorat will move past her late on and win by a couple of lengths. I’m not a fan of Jonbon at all and I thought he was awful at Cheltenham on Trials day when beaten at 1/4f. I’m sticking with Protektorat for Dan and Harry Skelton.
16:05 – Frero Banbou
I’m siding with Frero Banbou for Charlie Deutsch and Venetia Williams. He’s running off a mark of 131 which is a decent mark. He ran off 140 at Cheltenham on New Year’s Day and he’s a very sound jumper. He can get involved. Shakem Uparry also appeals, who impressed at Cheltenham. He ran well in the meeting last year and he’s been better when dropping in trip. I really like him but it’s worth noting that he’s 18lbs worse off with Frero Banbou.
16:40 – The Jukebox Man
This isn’t my favourite race of the meeting! The Jukebox Man should have won the Albert Bartlett at Cheltenham. He did everything right but he got caught late on. He should make amends but I’d rather his price was higher so I probably won’t be getting involved too much!
17:15 – Eagles Rain & El Jefe
I’m not mad on backing four-year-old’s against older horses but I like Eagles Reign. He ran a massive race when finishing second in the Fred Winter at Cheltenham. He has a decent chance and Shane O’Callaghan is claiming 5lbs too.
El Jefe is also worth a mention. He’s a huge price but he’s won four times this season and the biggest positive for him is that his jockey Ben Smith is really impressive. He’s claiming 7lbs and he likes to ride off the pace which will suit how this race will be run.
