13:30 Kempton – Star Pupil (each-way)

ITV Saturday has a changed menu with Kelso off and kick away here with a novice stakes for three-five year old’s over 6f. Richard Hughes’s stable is in great form and I’m interested in STAR PUPIL each-way here under George Rooke. Many will think this trip is too short after a debut over 1m at this track in December. However, the son of Zoustar looked in need of shorter that day and actually ran quite well. Stall 7 looks all right and he might go well at decent odds.

14:05 Kempton – Choisya

Here’s a Listed race for fillies over 1m. Another from stall 7 here to look at in CHOISYA for Harry Davies and the excellent Simon & Ed Crisford team. It looks as though the Crisfords are turning to Davies more and more with James Doyle not as free as he once was and this is a good chance on a horse who goes well on the artificial and won off 98 here in November. She really should have every chance.

14:40 Kempton – Old Harrovian

The Roseberry Handicap over 1m3f. OLD HARROVIAN looked like a monster in two wins at Lingfield and Wolverhampton in 2023 but then was a non runner at Chester before running too free in a Group 3 at Newbury. He stays well and this surface is clearly no issue so I expect a huge run for Andrew Balding with Oisin Murphy on top. Stall 5 is perfect.

15:15 Kempton – Novel Legend

The Queen’s Prize Handicap over 2m. NOVEL LEGEND should be bang in the finish if ready after 160 days off the track for James Fanshawe. Danny Muscutt is on top a horse he knows well and the pair won well at Goodwood last season. He’s a winner at Kempton on this surface and has been dropped 6lb since last running.

15:30 Chelmsford – Capulet

One from Chelmsford in a conditions race over 1m for three year old’s. Hot race this. CAPULET looks the one for Aidan O’Brien and Ryan Moore. He has to prove his fitness, but he’s gone on artificial at Dundalk and his third to Ghostwriter in the Royal Lodge is the best piece of form in this. Stamina is his strong suit so needs to hold a good position but can take a hold so that shouldn’t be an issue from stall 3.

15:45 Kempton – Devoted Queen

Finally from Kempton a conditions race for 3yo over 1m. Some useful types here. DEVOTED QUEEN is the obvious improver for Charlie Appleby and William Buick. The daughter of Kingman out of a Shamardal mare was a fine winner on debut at Newmarket and the runner-up went on to perform well albeit in defeat at Chelmsford.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
