14:05 D Art D Art

D ART D ART was unable to reward strong support on his handicap debut at Gowran Park last time but he shaped better than the bare result would suggest in fourth and may well have finished runner-up had he not made a mistake at the final flight. A jumping error also hindered him on his penultimate start at Down Royal, but he’s a sound jumper overall and was good in that department when winning at Cork three starts ago. He showed enough at Gowran to suggest he’s started in handicaps from a fair mark and he could still have more to offer, while dropping back in trip to two miles shouldn’t be an issue (won over two miles at Cork).

14:40 Bottler’secret

BOTTLER’SECRET progressed well on the Flat for Ciaran Murphy, winning two of his three outings in that sphere including a strong race on his handicap debut, and he created a good impression when making a winning start over hurdles for Gavin Cromwell at Naas. Bottler’secret jumped better as the race wore on and, after travelling fluently, quickened clear to score by 11 lengths with plenty in hand. There should be more to come.

15:15 O’Moore Park

O”MOORE PARK offered encouragement when third on his hurdling debut on his return from a 20-month layoff here in December, and he built on that promise to get off the mark back here in January. O’Moore Park, who was dropping back to two miles from an extended 23 furlongs, travelled well at the head of affairs and quickened clear approaching the last, easily beating subsequent winner Lucky Lyreen by nine lengths. He will have no problem stepping back up in trip, remains unexposed and, while improvement will be needed from this opening mark, he could be up to the task on his handicap debut.

15:50 Zarak The Brave

ZARAK THE BRAVE needs to conclusively prove he stays two and a half miles – he ran just respectably in third on his only previous outing at the trip – but he has the best form on offer and arrives here in good order. He was among the leading juvenile hurdlers last season, notably finishing runner-up to Lossiemouth at the Punchestown Festival, and he showed improved form when winning the competitive and valuable Galway Handicap Hurdle in the summer. He ran too badly to be true when pulled up at Tipperary but has shown he is back in fine fettle by landing the Limestone Lad Hurdle at Naas and then running creditably to finish fourth in the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham.

16:20 Saint Sam

SAINT SAM travelled with zest and jumped accurately – proving a bad fall at Listowel last year hadn’t left a mark – when he made a stylish return to action at Gowran Park in February. That emphatic success in the Grade 2 Red Mills Chase took Saint Sam’s record to five wins from seven completed races over fences, with the two defeats coming in Grade 1 company. He’s a force to be reckoned with at this level and can concede weight all round.

17:00 Nick Rockett

NICK ROCKETT won both starts over hurdles last season, including a Grade 2 novice at this meeting, and he has made an encouraging start to his chasing career, showing run-by-run improvement on Timeform’s figures. He had to settle for second behind American Mike in a Grade 2 at Navan last time but that looks like a smart piece of form backed up by a decent time and he remains open to further progress in this sphere. He could prove well treated off a mark of 146 on his handicap debut. Senior Chief is another unexposed novice and appeals as the main danger.

17:40 Better Times Ahead

BETTER TIMES AHEAD

18:10 Redemption Day

REDEMPTION DAY was below his best on his return at Gowran Park in February but is entitled to be a lot sharper on his first start for 11 months and is better judged on the sort of form he showed when winning a valuable event at Navan on his final start last season. He proved a different proposition on that first attempt at three miles and won impressive fashion, so he could yet have more to offer at this sort of trip.
