14:10 – GOLDWYN
GOLDWYN has been very useful under Mark Walford and looks to have found a very good opportunity to open his account in a maiden hurdle that isn’t as competitive as the numbers suggest. He’s been placed in a couple of similar events since coming from Ireland, running well when five lengths second to Young Jack at Newcastle last time. Breizh River is another with some solid form to his name and is next on the list after a good second in a novice at Carlisle last time. Bodygroove also enters calculations if, as expected, building on his debut as runner-up at the same track.
14:45 – MADE FOR YOU
MADE FOR YOU needs to shrug off a lesser effort in a handicap at Sandown on his latest outing but the step back up in trip and drop to selling company are both positives and he could be the answer with the refitting of blinkers also likely to put an extra edge on him. Art of Diplomacy is another to consider despite a two-year absence, as he was performing well in a much higher grade when last seen. Foveros completes the shortlist after finding one too good in claiming company on his last two starts.
15:20 – HAREL DU MARAIS
HAREL DU MARAIS produced a promising first effort over the larger obstacles when fourth at Leicester in January so, provided he’s none the worse for his last fence fall at Sedgefield last time, Mark Walford’s seven-year-old can come out on top at the expense of Royal Mer who has enjoyed a productive campaign, winning for the third time this season when successful at Leicester earlier this month, and has a career-high mark to overcome as a result. Course-and-distance winner Beat The Edge comes with risks attached but he can fill out third.
15:55 – KNOWWHENTOHOLDEM
KNOWWHENTOHOLDEM improved to score readily against more exposed types at Newbury last time when beating Jatiluwih by eight lengths on his final start for Anthony Charlton. He’s since joined the in-form yard of Neil Mulholland so he gets the nod over Yes Day who looks sure to give another good account after shaping when well when third to the useful and progressive Cuthbert Dibble at Haydock last time. Willsburg also warrants a mention upped in trip for his handicap debut.
16:30 – IMPERIAL ALEX
IMPERIAL ALEX gained a deserved first success over fences for Tom Lacey with a wide-margin victory after a fluent round of jumping at Chepstow eleven days ago, having finished runner-up on his four previous starts. He holds leading claims under a penalty. Taste The Fear could be the one to give the selection most to think about back up in trip having won over three miles at Doncaster last season, ahead of Pats Dream who’s having just his third start over fences and has cheekpieces on for the first time.
17:05 – KINDER KID
KINDER KID was well suited by the step up to three miles when readily opening his account by seven lengths from Mister Barclay over course and distance last week and is fully expected to follow up under a penalty being completely unexposed as a stayer. It’s Maisy, who was runner-up at Southwell last time when chasing a hat-trick, should continue in form, while Just In A Bit shaped better than the distance beaten suggests at Hereford and may have benefited from a breathing operation.
17:40 – DANGEROUS TOUCH
DANGEROUS TOUCH was sold for a tidy sum after going close in an Irish point in December and is taken to make a winning start for Olly Murphy who has a good record in this type of event. Martin Plage is one of those to have shown the most ability among those with experience and is worth another chance to confirm the promise of his Cheltenham debut so is next best ahead of Jeune Prince who showed plenty to work on at Carlisle.
