13:53 Newcastle – Spartan Army

A host of the same stuff on ITV Friday as the channel goes all-weather handicap crazy starting here with such an event over an extended 2m. This is wide open. Several of these have been meeting each other but the draw has worked nicely once again for SPARTAN ARMY and he can win again for Alan King and David Probert. He got the better of Prydwen and Vaguely Royal last time and although he is up 4lb this track should suit.

14:05 Lingfield – Bystander

ITV also go to Lingfield, starting here for a handicap over 1m2f. BYSTANDER could be well handicapped here for Karl Burke and Brandon Wilkie who takes off a valuable 5lb. The selection is still up 6lb, a success at this track last time, but he’s only run for times and has bundles more to give us. Trip and track ideal. The draw is the only major negative as stall 11 makes things a little tricky but he should go forward from out wide.

14:25 Newcastle – Fire Demon

FIRE DEMON might have more to come for Andrew Balding and Oisin Murphy. The three-year-old has won two of his last three starts and kept on well to win last time. He’s up 5lb here but is open to more improvement than some of these in a tough race to call.

14:40 Lingfield – Cephalus

CEPHALUS has gone up from 66 to 81 for three wins but could easily go in again as he was dominant at Lingfield last time. A high draw is ideal for him as he will be dropped out and try and come late and fast down the middle of the track for trainer Gary Moore. He could easily win again.

15:00 Newcastle – Shades Of Summer

SHADES OF SUMMER might be longer odds than her form suggests she should be as Nine Tenths will take a lot of the market being a William Haggas-trained runner. I thought she was impressive at Lingfield last time, and won here on her previous start. This trip is no problem and although up 6lb she might still have another success in her for Jane Chapple-Hyam and Laura Pearson.

15:15 Lingfield – Riyami (each-way)

RIYAMI has been going well for Denis Hogan and has an each-way chance under Joey Sheridan. My hope scored at Dundalk over this trip two runs ago and up 5lb was second at the same track last time when given too much to do and never placed to score. He’s up another 1lb here but might be improving. This is tough.

15:35 Newcastle – Juan Les Pins (each-way)

JUAN LES PINS ran over 1m 4f last time which was very odd. Back to his normal trip of 6f/7f here he should have an each-way chance for Ali Rawlinson and Mick Appleby. He stayed on well over 5f two runs ago at Southwell and I’d imagine he’s been laid out for this in a rather odd way! An each-way chance in a real cavalry charge.

15:50 Lingfield – Bosh (each-way)

BOSH has an each-way chance here for Richard Hannon and Richard Levey. My hope has hit a bit of form of late and a win at Chelmsford was followed by a run over 7f and then a fair third back at this trip at Wolverhampton. He’s off the same mark of 90 and has a good draw on stall three should he want to go forward early as he did last time.

16:10 Newcastle – Blanchland (each-way)

BLANCHLAND has looked a prospect from time to time and has a 1m4f win at this track. He didn’t do badly at Lingfield last time behind Tyrrhebian Sea and Base Note having swerved right at the start. He has an each-way chance here and is producing his best for Jane Chapple-Hyam and Rossa Ryan who is an excellent jockey booking.

16:40 Newcastle – Fantastic Fox

FANTASTIC FOX is up 5lb, a for success at Lingfield last time and on previous form that means this could be a step too far. That said, he’s in good form for the class stable for Roger Varian and Oisin Murphy is on top. He’s not out of this each-way.

So best of luck and pray for Yeeehaaas. You hear me Paddy?
