16:25 Catch Cunningham
Darlo Pride, Jeans Maite, The Defiant and Mehmo are all capable of going well in a race of this nature but there may be better-handicapped contenders. Wedgewood showed welcome signs of a return to her best when third under a positive ride at Wolverhampton last week but CATCH CUNNINGHAM ran well on his stable debut last month after a break and he can surely win races off his current mark.
17:00 Evening Story
Artisan Dancer and Tradesman have been reliable performers in AW handicaps in recent months and should go well. Chaos Control looks like the pick of the three runners reverting from hurdles and can give a good account but it might be worth chancing EVENING STORY. Although her form has dipped the last twice, on the face of it, neither of those steadily run 1m2f handicaps would have played to her strengths. Her earlier 1m4f win at Newcastle offered hope that this trip might be in range.
17:30 Cadogan Place
Infatuator has the best form but there are some notable newcomers in opposition and they may have his measure. Hidden Law and Grebastarky (second choice) are high on the list but CADOGAN PLACE, a brother to the Fillies’ Mile winner and 1,000 Guineas third Quadrilateral, is marginally preferred.
18:00 Suspicion
He had the benefit of experience and is also 6lb worse off today, but SUSPICION can uphold the placings with Vibrato and Devoirs Choice from Kempton four weeks ago. Liam Swagger needs a market check for an in-form stable but the main danger could come from the reappearing King’s Fountain.
18:30 Lough Leane
There are problems ahead for those taking on LOUGH LEANE if he can keep up the momentum on this third quick run, being 4lb well in for an impressive Wolverhampton win last week. Win Win Power has such an excellent C&D record that he looks like the main danger, with Soames Forsyte also holding good place claims.
19:00 Retraction
Landlordtothestars (second choice) has an excellent record on this course. But RETRACTION laid down a promising marker when fourth on his handicap debut over C&D for Ruth Carr and he should improve for that first run since September. Big Narstie wasn’t at his best ten days ago but he comes into it on his earlier wins this month. Recent winners King Of York and Turbo Command are also considered, although the latter has more to prove back at 1m.
19:30 Yaajooz (NAP)
A competitive race of its type but the claims of YAAJOOZ (nap) seem particularly compelling. George Boughey’s recent recruit shaped well on Saturday’s handicap debut, travelling strongly but conceding the first run to the winner, and compensation awaits before his new mark kicks in. Silver Trumpet has more on his plate than when winning at Kempton and the main dangers to the selection could be Berry Clever and Interestnpenalties
20:00 Digital
The hat-trick-seeking Glamorous Express is high on the shortlist, while Westmorian, Dandys Derriere, One More Dream and High Velocity also have something to recommend them. DIGITAL is still capable of pretty useful form on his day, though, and he needs serious consideration on his first run for Ruth Carr.
20:30 Tyke
This has a decidedly trappy look to it. But don’t rule out a big run from Showtime Mahomes on his seasonal debut, while Many A Star, Safari Dream and Clipsham La Habana all have something to recommend them. In the hope that the return to Southwell has the desired effect, TYKE is selected. His four runs over C&D have yielded three wins and a second and the runner-up finish, when giving his hugely progressive stablemate Billyjoh a fright, is arguably his best effort.
