13:20 Doncaster – Knight
KNIGHT hasn’t really put a foot wrong throughout his career with only a couple of below par efforts to his name. The softer the ground the better his chance so the very testing conditions at Doncaster is going to suit on his return. He has a good record after a break and connections put the visor on him for extra focus.
14:25 Doncaster – Helter Skelter
HELTER SKELTER wasn’t a cheap purchase at 38,000 guineas at the Horses In Training sale but looked a decent purchase when fourth for new connections at Wolverhampton last time behind a very nice type in Aerospace. He was carrying a bit of condition then and that will have blown away the cobwebs. From an unchanged mark of 74, he looks to have a bit of wiggle room for trainer Rebecca Menzies.
15:00 Doncaster – Montassib
MONTASSIB has only very recently started to be remodelled as a sprinter. We know he stays a bit further than this 6f trip, which is obviously going to help and his ability under these conditions is not in question. He finished with a rattle in the Ayr Gold Cup last season to claim fifth behind Significantly and then comprehensively turned that form around with that runner at York. He could be one to keep on side throughout the season over 6f and 7f.
15:35 Doncaster – Lattam (each-way)
The Irish raider Chazzesmee is trying to do the Lincoln double which is exactly what Lattam tried and failed to do last year. Lattam has now switched stables for 50,000g and has an excellent record after a break. The stable are notably very patient with their runners and they improve throughout the season, so the fact he’s going to turn up with a bit of pep in his step bodes well for his return to action.
18:15 Wolverhampton – Laheg
LAHEG only managed to win by a small margin over this distance last time at Lingfield so the handicapper has only given him a gentle 2lb nudge up the weights. He’s blessed with a fairly tidy change of gear late on so the fact he only has seven rivals will mean he’s not going to be too far off the pace, before unleashing his challenge.
