13:30 Speed Davis

Point winner SPEED DAVIS failed to meet expectations on his bumper debut at Kelso in April but he proved a different proposition on his return at Sedgefield last month, registering an easy five-length success after impressing with how enthusiastically he travelled.

He has a fine jumps pedigree – he’s a half-brother to five winners and his dam is a sister to Champion Chase winner Klairon Davis – so he looks a good prospect for hurdling. He gets the vote over Pickanumber who produced his best effort for his former yard when runner-up in a maiden hurdle at Wexford when last seen in August.

14:00 Singapore Trip

French recruit SINGAPORE TRIP shaped as if in need of the run when down the field on his first start for Micky Hammond at Wetherby in November and he duly took a big step forward to finish a close-up third at Newcastle in December.

He ran an even better race when third from out of the weights in a much stronger contest at Wetherby last time, impressing with how smoothly he travelled, and he could yet do better for his new yard. Hajey arrives in good form having followed up a course-and-distance success with an even better effort in defeat back here last month, and he appeals as the main danger.

    14:30 Tap N Go Leo

TAP N GO LEO made a successful start to his career in a Hereford bumper in November and there was also a lot to like about how he shaped when third on his hurdling debut at Warwick last month. Tap N Go Leo kept on well in the style of one likely to benefit from a sterner test of stamina so this step up to an extended three miles (from 19 furlongs) could bring about improvement.

    15:00 Val Dancer

VAL DANCER was well-backed at Leicester on his penultimate start and he justified that support with an emphatic success, relishing the emphasis on stamina as he drew clear to score by 16 lengths.

The cheekpieces that were worn for the first time at Leicester were unsurprisingly retained at Wetherby and he again rewarded support, winning with more in hand than the margin of two lengths might suggest after he was only closed down late on. He looks up to completing the hat-trick.

        15:30 For Pleasure

FOR PLEASURE has been rejuvenated by the switch to Olly Murphy’s yard and can make it three in a row. He had to work hard to win at Fontwell on Boxing Day, when the seven-day turnaround from his wide-margin win at Fakenham seemed to be telling late on, but he remains very well treated based on the useful form he showed for his previous yard a couple of seasons ago. Now that his spark is back he could prove tricky to peg back around here.

        16:00 Omar Maretti

OMAR MARETTI lost his way after winning four of his first five starts under Rules but he shaped better than he had for a while at Haydock last time. He was ultimately beaten 20 lengths in fourth but he seemed to find the test too much over that marathon trip on extremely testing ground, so he should be suited by dropping back in distance here. He can capitalise on a falling mark.
