      13.30 Newbury – Emitom (each-way)

Emitom is an exposed enough 10-year-old and he may be vulnerable to something improving and younger. Alan King has only had him for four runs and he ran extremely well for him in all bar one contest. He looked regressive for a while but the stable switch has freshened him up.

His run behind Young Butler was very good over course and distance three runs back. He ran an absolute stinker at Haydock which is a slight concern but he returned to form next time out with a good run at Ludlow.

He was behind Saint Davy that day who came out and won a Grade 3 Handicap Hurdle next time out off a mark of 130, so that form now looks good. In a big field with plenty of each-way options, he’s the one for me.

      14.05 Newbury – Shishkin

This isn’t a top class betting heat. Even pre-declarations the field is fairly small and will more than likely be just a watching race for me. Shishkin is the most likely winner though.

        14.40 Newbury – Amarillo Sky

This  is a very tough race to get a handle on. I’m not a big fan of Edwardstone and he’s now a 10 year old and very exposed at this stage. Boothill is coming off a fall last time out where he made a few errors, also Harry Fry isn’t exactly banging in the winners and he’s a yard I always find streaky. I don’t want to side with Boothill.

Amarillo Sky is interesting. It’s a little bit of a risk but he’s coming off a year layoff after finishing lame in the Clarance House last year. The yard must have thought a lot of him because he was running in real top level races.

He isn’t a straight forward horse but he’s won off a break before and perhaps the yard will have him 100 per cent ready for this. At a decent price in a tricky race, he’s worth taking a chance on.

        15.15 Newbury – Tellherthename (each-way)

Ben Pauling’s horses are absolutely flying. He has had a few that have been extremely well backed in the betting and Tellherthename is the exact profile I’d look for in the Betfair Hurdle.

He was a point-to-point winner, beaten a nose on debut by Jango Baie, who obviously went out and won the Formby Hurdle at Aintree, maybe by default with Farren Glory falling two out when looking the likely winner.

Tellherthename ran in that race too and pulled up but came out and won next time out, so at least you know it’s not some bigger issue and perhaps he had an off day, or it was a ground issue. His run in a Huntington maiden hurdle is also fairly strong too so all his form is good. He’s making his handicap debut off a mark of 135 with Harry Cobden booked, I’m with him.
