The shortlist is headed by the attractively bred newcomers SPIRIT OF THE ROSE and Never Better, whose bright-looking claims will be solidified if the market speaks accordingly. The selection is related to a few debut scorers for her notable connections, while the second choice is from a very classy family. Lessay and Newsreader lock horns once again and bring the best form in a rematch that could go either way.
18:30 – Gunfighter
This looks a tight contest. Neapolitan has gone close in his two previous runs at 7f and could resume his progress on this step back up in trip. Eminny needs a close look back in calmer waters on her reappearance, while a similar comment applies to James Tate’s unexposed filly Ahlain. However, preference is for GUNFIGHTER, who made it 2-6 when scoring at Wolverhampton in December and did well to go close from off the pace in a tactical event at Lingfield last time.
19:00 – Symbol Of Light (NAP)
On the back of a rock-solid effort, SYMBOL OF LIGHT (nap) can add to his wins for Charlie Appleby and record a first success since joining Julie Camacho. Aratus, who has a consistent record at Kempton, is second choice ahead of Greatgadian who looks another major contender on recent form. Dragon Icon and Sudden Ambush are interesting types.

19:30 – Stoic Syd
Being unexposed at this distance, STOIC SYD could well show further improvement and follow up his Southwell success. Ballybaymoonshiner, another contender who got off the mark last time, is second choice ahead of Egoiste who has clear possibilities provided he’s effective with the hood removed. The return to a 1m handicap puts hat-trick seeker Heerathetrack further down the shortlist.
20:00 – Diamondsinthesand
Hey Ho Let’s Go was only just caught here three weeks ago and is a big player if he can repeat that form back up in trip. Five-time AW winner May Remain could make a bold bid from a good draw, while Astrophysics is on a dangerous mark and has possibilities if he gets the breaks. However, the vote goes to DIAMONDSINTHESAND, who was an eyecatching fourth behind three subsequent winners at Wolverhampton last time and should get a good tow into this race.
20:30 – Capstan
With headgear again missing, CAPSTAN may well build on his Lingfield win and follow up. Nivelle’s Magic, assuming she continues her progress now back from a break, is feared most. Truth Will Out is a possible improver and Zambezi Magic is interesting off a reduced mark.
