16:15 Optik

David Simcock’s OPTIK arrives on the up and rates a confident choice to complete a quick hat-trick. Micky Hammond’s veteran Quoteline Direct should build on his recent eighth here and can chase home the favourite ahead of Coconut Bay and Glory Of Gold who can fight it out for minor honours.

16:45 Call To Action

La Boo lacks recent match practice and isn’t completely solid but she holds a leading chance if the Hilary Needler form is backed up. CALL TO ACTION, who went close at Southwell on his debut, has obvious claims granted normal progress while Helga Brandt (second choice) and Artistic Mission give Karl Burke a robust hand.

17:15 Atrafan

Michael Dods’ Marcello Si holds very solid claims at these weights but preference is for Alan Brown’s multiple course scorer ATRAFAN who usually comes good at this time of the year and signalled he’s ready to go in again when a resurgent second here last time. Fanzone and Qaabil appeal as the pick of the remainder for place purposes.

17:45 Odd Socks Havana

Last year’s winner ODD SOCKS HAVANA clinches slight preference in the rematch with Pallas Lord, who has similarly solid claims and warrants respect all the same. Fifty Sent is third choice.

18:15 Herakles

A small field but still competitive. Hat-trick seeking The Gay Blade has something to prove dropped to 5f but he’s improving and can’t be ruled out. Rory, High Opinion and Urban Dandy (second choice) are all of interest but HERAKLES, a C&D winner as a 2yo, has undergone wind surgery since his latest start and that, allied to this drop into Class 6 company, could see him bounce back to form.

18:45 Mumcat

Bonito Cavalo has won both his starts on AW this month and he should make a bold bid for a quick course hat-trick. Bernie The Bear can leave his stable debut behind him back up at 6f, but MUMCAT is talented for one racing at this level and she might prove the answer back from a short break.

19:15 Sibyl Charm (NAP)

The Iain Jardine-trained SIBYL CHARM (NAP) looked a winner in waiting when a fast-finishing runner-up at Wolverhampton last time and gets a confident vote off just a 1lb higher mark. In-form duo Leap Day (second choice) and Kalganov rate the main threats, while the selection’s stablemate Gobi Sunset could also run well.
