Mares’ Hurdle
Tuesday March 12, 4:10pm
We’ll need to see Lossiemouth make her seasonal debut before we make a final decision about about the Mares Hurdle. She’s short enough in the market too considering we haven’t seen her since last April.
There’s obvious doubts over the likes of Love Envoi and Brandy Love – I couldn’t part with my money on them right now.
Lantry Lady for Henry De Bromhead is extremely interesting. She’s got decent pedigree and while she’s only had one run over hurdles at Gowran Park last March, she was exceptional, winning by 14 lengths. She hammered Silent Approach, a Grade 2 winner, and Something Abouther. Get her on your radar and monitor her closer to the Festival, she could be a great value pick.
National Hunt Chase
Tuesday March 12, 5:30pm
This isn’t the deepest looking National Hunt Chase. Corbetts Cross could run in the Turners, the Brown Advisory or he could run here. I’d want to be almost 100 per cent sure that he’s running in this.
Three Card Brag is ideal for this race. People were disappointed with his last run at Punchestown on New Year’s Eve but I’m convinced he’s ran into a good one in Monty’s Star. The slower pace will help his engine and he’s a big player.
Flooring Porter is very interesting. He’s only got this and the Stayers Hurdle as a entry as he hasn’t got a Brown Advisory entry. He should turn up here go here according to connections and you can make a big case for him. He’s already won at Cheltenham this season when beating Broadway Boy back in October.
People may have forgotten about Salvador Ziggy. He disappointed in America but he was second in the Kerry National off 150 and that was a fair race. Anything off that mark has you in the right place to win the National Hunt Chase. We haven’t seen him and he’s out of people’s minds but stamina isn’t an issue but he’s got solid form, including a second in the Pertemps Hurdle last year.
Mister Coffey is one to keep an eye on at a huge price. He might not win but he could hit the frame. He was going brilliantly in the Aintree National but didn’t stay. He’s not an ante-post bet for right now but he’s worth keeping an eye on closer to the Festival.

Champion Chase
Wednesday March 13, 3:30pm
My first three home would be: 1) Jonbon 2) El Fabiolo 3) Nube Negra.
I’m one of the minority that thinks Jonbon could come out on top against El Fabiolo. I’d like to see Nico de Boinville ride him and try to force El Fabiolo into a mistake.
I’m really not sold on backing Edwardstone, I’m definitely against him. Although he’s a big price, another huge-price runner who could be worth keeping on side is Nube Negra. He hasn’t been his best recently but he finished second behind Put The Kettle On in the Champion Chase in 2021. If there’s a bit of pace on and the ground is decent, the Skelton runner could run into a place.
