Useful Flat-racer Sweet Fantasy is respected but VILLAINESS has the benefit of experience over jumps and is taken to build upon last month’s promising Lingfield second. Tour Ovalie made an underwhelming hurdle debut but her bumper for makes her of interest.
13:45 Calvic
A wind op three days after Duhallow Tommy’s short-odds defeat here on his handicap hurdle debut in November suggests there may have been an issue and he’s still of interest now switched to fences. Guillaume and Gorcombe Moonshine come here on the back of chase wins but CALVIC could be the answer. Unexposed under rules, he ran well for a long way on his chase debut and today’s drop in trip could prompt improvement.
14:15 Idy Wood
Diplomatic Ash, Bob Bob Ricard and Two To Tango (preferred in that order) all have more to offer over hurdles but IDY WOOD sets a very useful form standard, having been placed in a Grade 2 at Cheltenham, and ought to be a tough nut to crack. Fingers were burnt when Jamie Snowden’s 6yo was pipped at skinny odds at Hexham in November but the ground was heavy there and the winner has run well again twice since.
14:45 Fidux
He’s on a long losing run but good-ground specialist FIDUX ran well in defeat at Doncaster last month and ought to handle this sharper track well. He gets the vote ahead of Lord Accord, who needs to better his recent efforts but is well handicapped now and will also be very well suited by today’s ground. Class-dropper Larry is also considered.

15:20 Hunting Percival (NAP)
Highway One O One, a very useful chaser a few years ago, ran well in some good-quality open points last season and, in theory, could be very well handicapped over hurdles. He is of significant interest but the suggestion is HUNTING PERCIVAL (NAP), who put in a good front-running shift when fourth in a higher grade at Wincanton on Boxing Day and has conditions in his favour. Copshill Lad is next on the list.
15:55 Nickelforce
This can go to NICKELFORCE, who has made a solid start to his handicap career and is of particular interest if judged on the form of his Hereford second in October. One Last Glance returned from a long absence with two creditable efforts this season and is second choice, while triple chase winner Who Is That looks quite interesting off his lower hurdle mark and handicap debutant Kauto Kawai has scope for improvement.
