13.15 Lingfield – JPR One
There was very little between Master Chewy and Djelo at Aintree when they met earlier this season. Master Chewy is 3lbs better off for 3/4 of a length, but I think if the fences had been in up the straight Master Chewy would have won. JPR one is a good jumper and with a strong pace to aim at in receipt of weight enters calculations. He will love this easy 2 miles with Matata blitzing along especially with no hood on.
13:35 Thurles – Envoi Allen
A very good second to Geri Colombe at Down Royal, the Ryanair Chase winner has a tendency to jump right-handed so this is definitely up his street. The drying ground is not a problem for him either, so he gets the nod over Allaho who had a hard race at Kempton on boxing day and doesn’t look the monster he used to.
13.50 Lingfield – Saint Segal
Jane Williams’ charge was really unlucky at Ascot when holding every chance two out. This track looks perfect for his style of racing. The Gavin Cromwell trained runner, The King of Prs, has won his last three races. However, even though Saint Segal isn’t that well handicapped, this is a winnable contest for him.
14.25 Lingfield- Nurse Susan
Nigel Twiston Davies is never afraid to have a go. He ran Gowel Road in the Long Walk at Ascot, where he ran okay – remember, that was a Grade One. This is much easier. Nurse Susan is your favourite and deservedly so after success at Cheltenham last time. She looked quirky on the run to the last, so she is not without fear. She ran a nice race behind Love Envoi at this track last year off level weights so a mark of 129 has to be of interest.
15:00 Lingfield – Protektorat
You have to think the absence that kept L’Homme Presse off the track for so long is a worry. There is no doubting he is the best horse, but it is a question of price and it may well be safer to go with Protektorat, especially over this shorter trip. Protektorat was ridden to get home in a handicap last time and he finished the race off well. I think over this trip, he can be very hard to get by.

15:35 Lingfield – Animal
This is a great ride for James Bowen. The win at Sandown over My Silver Lining reads very well now as that won nicely at Warwick last week. Fern Hill is the danger after a wind op but third in the Welsh National trial at Chepstow, this looks a nice race for him. I am just going to edge it with Animal.
