17:15 Ville Natale

There are a couple of interesting newcomers in here but Ville Natale sets a decent standard after finishing runner-up at Wolverhampton a couple of weeks ago and she can put her experience to good use. She had been a promising third in a mile novice here on debut last month and she built on that up in trip at Wolverhampton last time, pulling clear with a fellow improver.

17:45 Ninth Life

Irish recruit Ninth Life made a winning start for the Newland and Insole partnership at Lingfield last month, readily holding on from a dual subsequent winner. There should be more to come from Ninth Life for this yard, while he also remains unexposed over this sort of trip after only two outings at a mile and a quarter. The hood which was applied for the first time at Lingfield is unsurprisingly retained and Ninth Life can launch another bold bid following just a 2 lb rise in the weights.

18:15 Harry The Haggler

Harry The Haggler has been in good order on the all-weather this winter, winning a seven-furlong handicap at Kempton in November and running at least as well in defeat twice since, including when runner-up over this course and distance last week. Harry The Haggler found only another in-form rival too strong and he ought to give another good account after edging up only 1 lb.

18:45 Wildfell

Wildfell enjoyed a productive campaign for his former yard in 2023, winning four starts on the spin in the spring and summer, and the way he shaped when fifth at Newcastle on Tuesday suggests he’s up to winning for his new stable. Wildfell wasn’t seen to best effect having pulled hard and been shuffled back in a steadily-run race, but he made good headway late on, doing well to get as close as he did. A more even tempo looks on the cards here and he can raise his game.

    19:15 Expert Agent

Expert Agent wasn’t seen to best effect when only fifth here last time as he was always on the backfoot after breaking slowly, looking unsuited by dropping back to five furlongs. He had offered encouragement when beaten little more than a length in a six-furlong handicap at Kempton on his previous start, however, and he will appreciate stepping back up in trip. He’s only had three starts since joining Stuart Williams, is now 1 lb below his last winning mark and has a handy draw here in stall three.

    19:45 The Liegeman

The Liegeman has done well since entering handicaps and has finished placed either side of winning at Lingfield. He scored decisively at Lingfield, quickening up well despite having a wider trip than ideal, and he ran at least as well when runner-up off this 7 lb higher mark at Wolverhampton last month. The application of cheekpieces for the first time here could bring about further improvement from this lightly-raced sort.

    20:15 Crocodile Power

Crocodile Power shaped as if retaining ability when fourth at Southwell 12 days ago on his return from ten months off and first start for Seb Spencer. He has been cut some slack by the handicapper and is now able to run off a mark 2 lb lower than his last winning one, so he is one to be interested in on the back of his encouraging return.
