He looks a good bet to defy the handicapper again and complete a course hat-trick. Virtual Hug has been in decent form here lately and is second choice ahead of Kingston Sunflower.

    ENGLISH SPIRIT can add to his good track record and strike under Billy Loughnane, who was on board when the six-year-old triumphed here in November, and he wasn’t disgraced after nine weeks off last time, failing to settle and leaving the impression he’d come on for the run. He remains on a fair mark and will be competitive in this field. Win Win Power is another who knows where the winning post is here and is second choice ahead of Tio Mio.

    19:00 – Bay Of Naples

    It was a pretty competitive race for the grade in which BAY OF NAPLES chased home a well-treated winner at Southwell last time and this consistent type is taken to go one better. Snooze Lane has edged back down the weights and he will be a threat if his stamina holds out back up in trip here, while Starfighter is also shortlisted following a creditable effort in defeat over this course and distance recently.

    19:30 – Optician

    OPTICIAN made a winning start for this yard over course and distance last month, landing a gamble fitted with a first-time tongue tie and, still feasibly treated on the pick of his form up 4 lb in the weights, he is taken to follow up. Next on the list is Footsy, who has performed with plenty of credit on all four starts, while Lady Valentine has edged down to a plausible mark and she is one to note in the betting.

    20:00 – Noble Captain

    NOBLE CAPTAIN boasts a good record on the all-weather and he looks the way to go on the back of his recent success at Newcastle. He was the pick of the weights in that classified event, and also got bumped close home, so he looks the one to focus on in a similar race in what doesn’t have much depth. Fantasy Navigator and Q Twenty Boy can fill the places.

    20:30 – Monsieur Fantaisie

    MONSIEUR FANTAISIE returned to form despite doing plenty from a wide draw when a close third at Chelmsford recently, doing a bit too much too soon, and gets the vote on these terms. Hannah’s Return and Deputise are feared most.
