17:00 Mucuna

The mare MUCUNA has won four times over hurdles since she last raced on the Flat and may well be a step above today’s rivals. Destinado has been in good form since joining James Owen and could be the standout danger. C&D winner King Athelstan might have needed last month’s comeback run and he is next on the list.

17:30 Alrazeen

The penalised Siempre Arturo probably has only ALRAZEEN to worry about but the Kelleway runner showed more than enough at Kempton to earn him the vote. He’s a good looker with more to offer

18:00 Daafy

An open race with a few likely contenders. Back From Dubai (second choice) has plenty to recommend him back on this track but DAAFY was not too hard pressed to win over C&D last time out and he is a narrow choice to continue his yard’s good run.

Another recent winner Bobby Joe Leg also enters the argument there’s a slight doubt as to whether the refitted blinkers worn that day will have the same effect again. Vitalline and The Princes Poet are others to consider

18:30 Qaasid

This looks tricky but the vote goes to triple AW winner QAASID, who had form figures of 123232 in his final six runs last year. He returns after 201 days off but this 6yo still looks feasibly treated and has won when fresh in the past.

Charlie Johnston’s Tenerife Sunshine is feared most, although Cavern Club is still unexposed on AW and looks interesting on this drop back in trip and grade. Another to consider is Valsad, who won a Class 2 here in the autumn and has claims if he can recapture that form on his stable debut.

19:00 Hes An Angel

Topweight HES AN ANGEL recorded a good Topspeed figure for the grade when winning at Wolverhampton 11 days ago and still has some scope for improvement. He gets the vote ahead of Higher Law, who has been shaping as though his turn is near. Multiple course winner Ustath needs to bounce back to form but lurks on a dangerous mark.

    19:30 Catesby

This looks good for well-drawn topweight CATESBY, who could not get to the front after a tardy start at Wolverhampton three weeks ago but still ran well there and is now only 1lb higher than when dominating from the front over C&D in October. Most of the others are in poor form but Trulie Good outran 50-1 odds when second over 5f here a fortnight ago and has a chance if in a similar mood again.

    20:00 Kats Bob (NAP)

This can go to KATS BOB (NAP), who escapes a penalty for his brave win under Archie Young here last week and has strong claims if he can repeat that form. Second choice is Dandys Derriere, who made it 3-10 on AW when bouncing back with a strong-finishing success at Wolverhampton three weeks ago. Others who could be in the mix are Sassy Belle and Phoenix Beach.

    20:30 Lady In Havana

It might be worth siding with LADY IN HAVANA, who beat a subsequent winner when landing a C&D handicap last month and had an excuse when favourite at Newcastle two weeks ago. She still has potential after only six starts. The main threat could come from George Boughey’s unexposed filly Warming, who was placed on her recent handicap debut.
