13:35 Southwell – Lone Soldier (The Sun)

Some interesting handicap newcomers are on show and, with the first-time hood a possible plus for the Dan Skelton-trained LONE SOLDIER, he earns the vote. Point winner Mistymal also has a lowly mark for his first handicap start and he may be the chief danger, ahead of Call Me Arthur, Sangiovese and the juvenile Ceejaybe.

14:55 Newcastle – Tantastic (Racing Post)

Plenty to consider including front-runner Blackcurrent and Rockley Point, who both went close to winning last week. The best in at the weights Sir Benedict and Stallone (second choice) have plenty to recommend them too but TANTASTIC is the selection. His second run for this yard 12 days ago was a good step back in the right direction and two of the three to finish ahead of him there struck at Wolverhampton on Saturday. Hard Nut is one to note at likely bigger odds.

A chance is taken on RICK BLAINE, who was third in a couple of novice events at Worcester in the summer and raced too freely when failing to finish over 2m3f last time. Iddergem is an obvious threat.

15:30 Newcastle – Cheese The One (Daily Mail)

A tactical affair could be on the cards. A tentative vote goes to CHEESE THE ONE who once again suggested another crack at 1m was needed when finding one too good, but still pulled clear of the third, in a 7f classified contest here 13 days ago. If Jason Hart can settle Intoxicata early, she has another big run in her.
