12:20 – Townhill

TOWNHILL shaped promisingly after eight months off when finishing third at Exeter last time, rallying well from two out to pass the post only four lengths behind the winner. Still unexposed after just five starts over hurdles, he will be suited by the return to three miles today and looks to hold solid claims with that reappearance run under his belt, especially if the addition of first-time cheekpieces can eke out a bit more improvement.

12:50 – Personal Ambition

PERSONAL AMBITION was out of his depth when finishing well held in a Grade 2 novice event at Sandown last month, but he’s worth another chance to confirm the promise of his debut success at Warwick now back in calmer waters. That was a fairly useful performance to win by three and a half lengths from Jingko Blue, who gave the form a boost when winning his next start at Newbury. There isn’t much depth to this novice and Personal Ambition probably won’t need to improve on that effort to defy a penalty.

13:25 – Classic King

CLASSIC KING has achieved plenty in his two starts over hurdles, first making a winning debut at Wincanton in October and then showing even better form in defeat when filling the runner-up spot at Kempton last time. That was a huge effort to be beaten only two and a quarter lengths behind the subsequent Listed winner Queen’s Gamble, especially as he was tasked with trying to concede 7 lb to that rival. There is nothing of that calibre in opposition today and it looks a straightforward opportunity for him to get his head back in front.

14:00 – Raffle Ticket

RAFFLE TICKET stepped up on his reappearance run with a good second at Taunton last month, producing a career best to be beaten just a head. Settled in mid-division in the early stages, he jumped fluently in the main and was doing his best work at the finish in the style of one who will be suited by going back up in trip, pulling well clear of the rest. Still low mileage for one of his age, Raffle Ticket is fancied to defy a 4 lb rise in the weights to gain a fourth career win over fences.

    14:35 – Could Be Trouble

COULD BE TROUBLE shaped better than the bare result when last seen finishing third at Aintree on Boxing Day, only tiring on the run-in as a positive ride in very testing conditions seemed to take its toll. A good second at Catterick the time before, Could Be Trouble looks back to herself all of a sudden and a BHA mark of 107 remains potentially lenient judged on the pick of her old form. After all, it was only a couple of seasons ago that she won off 120 before being placed multiple times from still higher marks.

    15:05 – Fenland Tiger

FENLAND TIGER has won four of his six starts since being switched to handicaps and the form of his latest effort when third at Carlisle is as good as anything he’d shown previously. Beaten five and a half lengths at the line, he left the impression he would have benefited from a stronger gallop, just unable to go with the front pair when the sprint for home began. The winner gave that form a boost when following up at Market Rasen on Tuesday and Fenland Tiger remains one to be interested in from an unchanged mark, with further progress not out of the question on just his third chase start.

    15:35 – Off The Jury

OFF THE JURY is related to winners under Rules, including the useful hurdler Au Fleuron, and he was well on top at the finish when winning his sole start in Irish points. He’s since joined Alan King having been bought for €170,000 and it’s a yard which has an excellent record with bumper debutants (showing a profit of £16.30 to a £1 level stake). Those with previous experience under Rules set just a fairly useful standard in this contest and Off The Jury appeals as a likely type who could well prove too good for them.
