Royal Mer ought to give another good account but this is a drop in grade for MALPAS (NAP), who made a pleasing seasonal debut at Carlisle last month and is still unexposed over fences. Our Friend Mo is next on the list.

13:40 Parikarma

Olly Murphy’s two runners Swinging London and Iddergem (preferred in that order) both have significant roles to play but PARIKARMA will find this much easier than the Newbury handicap she contested last month and the form of her Market Rasen second two starts ago reads very well in this context.

    14:45 Hunter Legend

    Johnny Mac is 2-2 since joining Matt Sheppard and not opposed lightly, despite being 7lb out of the handicap today. However, it’s hard to get away from HUNTER LEGEND, who went down fighting when a clear second on his chasing debut at Ludlow in November and is probably still well handicapped after a 3lb rise.

    14:50 Tommie Gun

    Wal Buck’s is likely to progress again from last month’s Carlisle fourth but we may not see him to best effect until he moves up in trip and preference is for TOMMIE GUN, who quickened up well to fend off a strong finisher on his hurdling debut at Southwell and probably has more in the locker. Long-absent 7yo Dominic’s Fault will enter the equation if strong in the betting.

        15:20 Inspiratrice

        After splitting higher-rated rivals when second in a novice chase three weeks ago, INSPIRATRICE is well handicapped here and gets the nod. The three-runner C&D race dominated by Artemis Kimbo last month didn’t take much winning in the end but she is second choice. Galice Macalo and chasing debutante Terresita both drop in grade but the former needs to bounce back from a disappointing hurdle run and the latter seems better suited by longer trips.

        15:50 Letthedustsettle

        Ingennio (second choice) and Robber’s Bridge have both knocked on the door this season but they’re against some very unexposed ones here and the suggestion is handicap debutant LETTHEDUSTSETTLE, who caught the eye making steady late headway in a heavy-ground maiden in November. Hara Kiri, One Eye On Vegas and Lady Balko are other possible improvers.
