13:10 Autumn Return

AUTUMN RETURN is building a good strike rate, recording her fifth win under Rules in a two and a half mile handicap hurdle at Musselburgh in November, in control when putting in an untidy leap at the final flight.

She is a hugely likeable type who has plenty of form at two miles, so the drop in trip shouldn’t pose a problem, and she will continue to take all the beating at this sort of level. Lets Go To Vegas could emerge as the chief threat now she reverts to this sphere having been let down by her jumping over fences of late.

13:40 Check The Score

Those with experience don’t set an exacting standard in this maiden hurdle, so CHECK THE SCORE is chanced to make a winning start over hurdles. He was successful on his second start in points and he made the perfect start under Rules when winning a bumper at Warwick on his sole start last season, finding plenty under pressure to lead in the final 50 yards.

This step up in trip will suit on his debut in this sphere and this looks a good opening. Grand Albert also merits plenty of respect on his hurdling debut with useful Flat stayer Zain Nights not discounted, either.

    14:10 Anglers Crag

ANGLERS CRAG was a winner in points and made a winning start over hurdles for David Pipe just under two years ago. He didn’t quite progress as expected afterwards, but he bounced back to his best on debut for this yard when opening his account over fences at Carlisle last month over three and a quarter miles.

He overcame a couple of mistakes in doing so, too, beating a couple of lightly-raced chasers, and he will remain of interest from a 5lb higher mark. Lagonda shouldn’t be long in winning over fences judged on her latest effort at Chepstow and looks the main danger.

    14:40 William Cody

WILLIAM CODY is taken to deservedly get his head back in front having found just one too good on each of his three starts since returning to action in November.

He perhaps found the longer trip on deep ground too much of a test at Fakenham last time and the drop back in trip along with likely better ground here will be helpful. Similar remarks apply to Scene One, who was pulled up in the same Fakenham race, but he remains of interest nonetheless.

        15:10 Homme D’Un Soir

HOMME D’UN SOIR put in a good shift back over hurdles on his debut for Billy Aprahamian at Doncaster last month, certainly taking a big step back in the right direction and, down another 1lb and back up in trip here, he could be the answer to this trappy-looking contest from what is a lenient mark based on the pick of his form.

It remains to be seen if Charles St will reproduce the form of his course and distance success last time but he’ll certainly be a threat if able to do so.

        15:45 Yellow Jacket

YELLOW JACKET didn’t have much chance with the easy winner at Bangor on return, but his superiority over the others was greater than the margin implies, so he makes the most appeal up against some out-of-form rivals from a 1lb lower mark, and with Brian Hughes taking over in the saddle.

Cokytho at least took a small step back in the right direction starting out for this yard here on return last month so is feared most.
