LUCKY PLACE offered encouragement when runner-up on his hurdling debut at Huntingdon in November and he took a big step forward to get off the mark at Doncaster a few weeks later, proving suited by the step up to an extended 19 furlongs. He created a terrific impression at Doncaster, quickening 13 lengths clear after travelling powerfully, and he remains open to plenty of improvement for his powerful stable.
13:25 Tutti Quanti
Paul Nicholls has won this prize for the last two seasons and this year he relies on French recruit TUTTI QUANTI. Tutti Quanti showed ability when runner-up on his hurdling debut in France and that form marks him out as the one to beat on his British debut for his top yard.
13:55 Johannes
JOHANNES was only sixth on his debut over hurdles at Exeter in November, but he showed up well for a long way before fading from the second-last. Johannes has since undergone a breathing operation and he remains capable of better as a hurdler, keeping in mind that he was a wide-margin winner on the Flat on his only start in France.
14:25 Keep Running
KEEP RUNNING fell on his chasing debut and first start for Warren Greatrex at Taunton in November (was previously with Harry Whittington) but he put in a good round of jumping at Ludlow last month when runner-up to the reopposing Dr TJ Eckleburg. Keep Running was beaten only half a length on that occasion so looks up to reversing the form on these 4lb better terms, particularly as he’s open to improvement after only one completed start over fences.
15:00 Zoffee
ZOFFEE has shown useful form on the Flat since last running over jumps in November 2021 and he could prove well treated as he heads back over hurdles. Zoffee’s form over hurdles – before largely underwhelming over fences – also suggests that a mark of 119 could be lenient so he looks worth siding with on his first start for Olly Murphy.

15:30 Shantou Flyer
SHANTOU FLYER has recently turned 14 but he was one of the best hunter chasers around in Britain last year. Shantou Flyer was third in the hunter chase at the Cheltenham Festival, and he won events at Exeter and Stratford. He was successful in a point on his return to action in November and can launch a bold bid here.
16:05 Ilary De Lecu
The form of ILARY DE LECU‘s fourth at Warwick on her latest outing in May has worked out well with the second and third both winning next time. Ilary de l’Ecu was runner-up in a couple of bumpers in France for her previous yard and an opening hurdles mark of 91 could underestimate her, especially as she’s lightly raced and open to improvement.
